Just got a PS3. Question.

Just got a PS3. Traded 360 for it because, even though, currently, the 360 possibly has wider selection of games, I think the PS3 has more going for it as an entertainment hub in the future. (Plus I met the chief architect of the Cell proc a couple of times..... I know. I am a nerd. lol). Anyway................

I'm also considering buying a PSP in Japan in a few weeks as I see that you will be able to stream media from your PS3 to the paired PSP via wi-fi. Is this operational yet? Has anyone tried it yet? Verdict? Sounds like an awesome idea

    Cheers folks.

    Yes, it's operational.

    Yes, I've tried it.

    And yes, it's awesome. :D

Where and what exactly did you trade in? (i.e Pro console, any games?)

Do you mind telling me what they gave you for it in store credit?

Traded in 360 premium and 6 games: COD2, Gears, Half life Orange box, Halo3, blue dragon, burnout revenge.

got 320 for them. Had a few quid on a rewards card. They were only offering 45 for the hd-drive and weren't interested in movies so flogging them separate and gave wi-fi to a mate.

Better than four kicks in the crotch anyway

I've paired my PSP with my PS3 but for me it didn't work great. Dunno if it was my network connections or what. I tried playing a couple of PSP games I downloaded onto the PS3 and they were pretty juddery. I then tried to stream video from my PC onto the PS3 through traversity and then to the PSP, but I think that was too much to ask for the PSP froze after about 5 seconds.

Yeah, that's why I asked: Just assumed that it would be a massive drain on your broadband connection bandwidth. Lot of data flying around. Ah, when we all have 60Mb broadband we'll be sorted :)
Cheers man. Good to see both sides

Broadband connection speeds shouldnt have anything to do with it , most home broadband in this country would be around the 2mb -3mb mark on average. But this is just how fast you connect to the net , your router should be at least 802.11G and this should be able to move data around your home network at around the 40 -50 mbps mark.

The theoretical maximum for 802.11g is 54mbps but you never quite get there , it should however be able for 40mbps - 50mbps.

The PSP though as far as I know , only has an 802.11b wireless adaptor , so that means that its limited to 11 mbps , ( maximum ) which is probably why some content judders on it , if the content your streaming though , is in PSP format , then it should be OK as it would be well within the bandwidth that the PSP is capable of , its just that not much content is in that format.

I can see it being a problem streaming content from Tversity to PS3 and then streaming it on to PSP. I'd imagine it would work much better if the content was on the PS3 in the first place (or streaming Tversity to PSP).

Yeah, I kinda knew before I tried it that going from tversity to ps3 to psp wouldn't work, but the PSP couldn't find the tversity server to get to it directly.
