    Seagate Ext HDD 400GB

I need to take the disk out and connect it via IDE. It's not blindingly obvious and everywhere I try to open it looks like it's going to snap.

    Ta.

Have you had a good look ? No holes for screws or anything ?

Looked and looked again. No holes or screws. Tried to prise the edges with a flathead screwdriver but as I say it doesn't come apart easy.

Can you remove the stand ? It's just a thought but there may be a screw or clip hidden in there ....

Not a perfect translation but this section might help:
For the first time revealed the shell external drive Seagate - is not so simple (as opposed, for example, the Maxtor external drives, where the procedure is performed one left). First we need to remove the top (that is the one that without rubber rim-footprint) silvery plastic cover, relaxing Rams latch-three slot in the side of the building (on panel connectors), and then shifted to the connector cover. This would be followed by five-arm (!) With a screwdriver cavity in the center and remove the lower tip of silvery cover. I pull out the central trace metal skeleton,

It was a suggestion, hence the question mark.

It's still BSM. If you have a problem with a poster/post, use the report button. Don't take it on yourself. Otherwise you can end up with the infraction instead.

Back on topic now people please.

Thanks for the suggestions. Got it out, but what a hassle. If you need an external HDD where you think you might at some stage have to take the disk out do NOT get one of these.
