    Hey Folks!

Just bought an new telly 3 weeks ago and the store owner was letting me know about the new HD Trials going on.
What exactly do I need to search for to find some more info....is it the DTT trials Post? but there was no mention of HD.
The TV has an inbuilt MP4 Digital Decoder Tuner so it should be enough.

    Thanks
    Nick

An mpeg 4 decoder is not enough to receive the HD channel available on the DTT trial. Is the decoder on your tv capable of HD? You need to have the STB for the trial to be guaranteed of seeing the HD channel or anything else. Personally I think the store owner lied to sell you a tv.

You dont need the Humax eg. the TM6900 can do HD and DVB-T.

Hi, just to be clear, what is your TV's make and model? Almost all TV's on sale in TV shops up and down the country do not have an inbuilt DTT tuner.

Ehhhh, not true ... most of the latest can tune the DTT channels. Thats my experience.
Basic MPEG2 UK stuff but will pick up the 4 SD Irish channels.

What about the MPEG4 SD channel? Does the Technomate display that too?

Expect some RTE annoucements in Aug/Sept 2008

Cairn Hill Longford and Truskmore Sligo may be enabled for 4 channels (not HD) in Aug 2008. There are no definite plans I know of for ANY HD roll out anywhere. You need HD Satellite and then there is BBC HD for free.

A Neotion module can convert the any MPEG2 TV to MPEG4 (but only for SD, not HD) that has a CI (slot for CAM at side).

    Hi

I have a LG 42LC55 HD-Ready and can receive DTT channels, I also have the CI-module I got with my Humax box for the trial, so I can insert it and watch the encrypted channels.

But the problem I have is that I cannot see the HD channels, does anyone know if I should be able to watch them? or do I need anything extra.

What channels are on the trial? are they in 54,58,61 and 64 only?

    Thanks

Does your television have a HD tuner?

Sorry but no idea if it does, from the option I can see I don't think so, will it be i the same part as the TDT tuner?

    Thanks

If it doesn't have a HD tuner then it wont allow you to access the HD channel on the trial. You will need to use the box received for the trial to receive it.

I got a new laptop with a built in DVB tuner and I can pick up the DTT channels - very nice indeed. I was wondering if there is any software available to decode the HD channels or the encrypted ones such as sky news?

Thanks but I was wondering more about the MPEG4 SD channel, rather than the MPEG2 ones. I think it's on the same mux as the MPEG4 HD channel and the MPEG4 Setanta channel?
