Will the fact that I attended counselling sessions be recorded?

Background: Medical Student, Moderately depressed, planning to avail of student counselling services.

I've always been particularly prone to depression but this period seems to be lasting a bit longer than usual and some of my thoughts are beginning to alarm me so I've decided to attend some counselling sessions in the university.

But I am worried that the fact I attended these sessions could affect my career in the future. Truth be told, if they were to record that I attended I'd rather wait and ride this episode out like I normally would and get the problem as a whole dealt with when I graduate.

Will it be recorded that I attended and if so, could it have any effect on my furture career?

I imagine there is a 'Chinese wall' between the sides and they aren't allowed discuss it.

I think it would be better that you recogniesed the symptoms and sought help than ignore them and cause problems for yourself.

Surely the direct approach is best in these cases - have you tried asking either the counsellings services or your students union?

If you really are concerned about the recording of any such visits why not try and find a private counsellor outside the university?
