Does this work on Sky digital? I cannot find it. What is the symbol rate (Sky only has 22/27.5)?

I'm not a big football fan but I decided to watch the match last night after all I have sky with about 300 channels, not sports or movies, but it is an international match in Ireland, and I'm irish.

But no, the match isn't on TV, whats the deal with that? Its not enticing me to support the irish football team, anyone know the rational behind this?

Sky have the rights to the Irish games. However they only have exclusive rights to the friendly international game, which this was. All qualifying games have to also be shown on terrestrial television.

Thanks, I understand now. although it doesn't seem very friendly to me. Its silly with all this tech and TV companies, stadiums, press coverage, traffic restrictions, advertising and sponsorship that the average punter can't watch the match without paying more. :(

Indeed. A far cry from when I was a nipper and we would all get half days from National school to watch Ireland games, even friendlies, on RTE.

Retrospective tear runs down my cheek. ;)

My National school teacher would bring in his portable tv and we would watch Ireland playing on RTE in the class room with Rabbits ears.
