Has anybody any thoughts on wedding insurance for various things that may go wrong, say, photogrhapher or band not turning up or save us all, a double booking?

Just wondering if anybody getting married has taken out insurance and is it money well spent?

    Thanks

To be honest I didn't see the point.

When booking the photographer, one of the things we check was the back p plan in case something happens him. He has a complete set of spare camera's, flashes, batteries etc in the booth of the car and has a arrangement with another photographer in case something happens him and he can't make it.

We booked the DJ with Star DJ's, again we checked they basically have a backup DJ on call.

Suitwise, I'm going with a large company, so worst case senerio I'll just take a slightly different style.

Virtually everything has a book up option unless something massive happens, like the hotel burning down or herself changing her mind (I don't think insurance will pay for a new bride).

IMHO insurance is just gonna be another expense I don't need to worry about.

    Folks,

Just sizing this up at the moment. Has anybody gone and bought it? Coverage seems decent enough but I wonder what it would be like if you were unfortunate to have to put a claim in !!

Its around €200 for decent coverage...is it worthwhile though

I'm not sure I understand - if something that major goes wrong, what will the insurance cover exactly?

I might be missing something, but apart from the wedding dress, most of the big expenses are paid on the day itself - or the day after in the case of the reception.

So, if things don't work out, you haven't paid any money to get compensated for. It also doesn't cover any losses that are caused by being pissed, so the chances are it won't cover any damage to the suits.

I'm not sure if we even knew about this product last year, but I doubt we would have bothered with it.

Honeymoon - At least €4K for most people.

Most hotels make you pay in advance, the minority ask you to pay the day after.

Thats potentially €15K gone down the jax for a typical wedding if something was to go wrong, death in the family, somebody being ill etc.
