I think it's time to open discussion for episode 6 considering a good few of us have seen it from the earlier leaked copies and it aired Monday on HBO on Demand meaning it should be available now or soon enough.

Ill post thoughts later when I rewatch it! Having watched 4 episodes in a row (4-7),they are a bit muddled together!

Oh,and I just stole the format of the poll and general post because I am far too lazy to come up with anything of my own :D

    "That's some Spida-man Śhit there"-Marlo :D

After Omar's legendary leap he simply hides in the same building, which Chris and Snoop don't look in and Chris seems fairly Píssed at missing his shot. Nastly looking injury for Omar though, sore enough to make him cry!Even with a bandy leg he is now after Marlo big time.

Loved the cameo from Nicky Sobotka, shouting at Carcetti about selling off the docklands. Nice little nod to season 2. Apparantly there was some debate on other forums that it wasn't him,but it is definatly him. The actor is credited and a true Wire fan has to recognise him right away! :D

Nice comment about the media from Carcetti, not a lot of them around when there are positive things happening but plenty when there are negative things like the homeless "murders". Obviously part of Simon's attempts to show how the media have failed as many other institutions have.

The second great cameo was from Randy who has sadly been clearly changed by living in the group home. Obviously to survive he had to change and last season he was clearly a good kid who could have been saved but the system chewed him up. I would imagine that is the last we see of him and the story is just left as it is,a sad end and a bleak future for him. This is the Wire so Carver or anyone else is not going to swoop in at the end and give him a home and good life!

Guess we can't be surprised that the DNA from the vacant murders was screwed up! 22 bodies and they mess it up.They still have the DNA on Bug's father who Chris killed in a fit because he raped Michael. If you remember Chris spit on the body and punched him to death so there is a good chance there might be some DNA.

marlo has some balls, kills Joe,basically dismantles the co-op and raises the price on a brick!

Mcnulty talking to a statue... enough said...or is it? Actually no,kidnapping the homeless guy off the street and taking him out of town, neough said now? :p

    Again a great episode.

Aye, loved that. It's not just that they had one of the characters appear - it's that he was ranting about the very issues that drove a lot of the S2 plot line. Therefore it was very relevant.

True. He was a pretty gentle soul last season and now he's clearly hardened himself and locked the decency away. It's a sad state to see how poorly the kids are going to turn out, isn't it? It's true to life, which breaks away the comfort we normally get from a fuzzy warm TV ending.

They still have the DNA on Bug's father who Chris killed in a fit because he raped Michael. If you remember Chris spit on the body and punched him to death so there is a good chance there might be some DNA.
Yup and that's how I reckon they're going to get Chris - for something else other than his hit. Then they can cut a deal with him to get to Marlo, Snoop, et al (assuming they know what et al is :D).
    Again a great episode.
Is it capable of anything else? :)

    Great episode!
Marlo is now being chased from 3 different directions:
    1. Freeman and McNulty with the phone tap
    2. Omar with the guns
    3. Bunk with the legit investigation

Bunk's investigation is the right way of doing it but knowing The Wire I wouldnt say this method will get Marlo because the right way never works in the real world of B'more!

For the first time Omar seems kind of rattled and on edge... this could be a problem if he's not thinking straight and might lead to his downfall.

Given his injuries it's the only place he could have hidden really, of course Chris and Snoop didn't know how badly hurt his leg was. It also adds some realism to the height he jumped from, very unlikely for Omar to come out of it unscathed.

The cameo was great. There are so many stories and lives integrated into the show. One season building on the next. Like showing the Sobotka election posters faded and worn in Season 3. How could people think it wasn't Nick  Anyway it was inevitable the dock place would be sold off after season 2 events.

The media is the same the world over. Bad stories outweigh the good ones.

Ya Randy has been lost in the system, shame really.

The DNA screw up was comical especially when the girl appeared in the background. "She's been an excellent employee except for that one mistake" Bunk looking over at her ready to kill her :D

Marlo isn't afraid of anyone. It'll be nice when he falls.

He's doing it for a good cause I suppose. :)

    High Wire.

If he falls...maybe he will, i havent read spoilers so dont know.
But the way the Wire goes, there is rarely a happy ending.
My guess at the moment would be that Chris and Snoop get caught out somehow but Marlo gets away.. maybe to that island place where he had his money in the bank - i was thinking there must be a reason why they showed that.

I'm assuming he will fall. I haven't read anything. They're coming at him from 3 angles. Odds are against him.

Would anyone care to hazard a guess as to whether the leak supplying those sealed indictments to Prop Joe is anyone we've already met? I can't think of anyone that would be a suspect. It has to be someone at the courthouse, right? And, iirc, we only really know Bond, Pearlman, Judge Phelan from there so...........

Did anyone catch what Bunk muttered when he found that he had to go to the back of the queue for forensics as McNulty's fake serial killer investigation got priority?
It was funny to see the Bunk so pissed that he couldn't even utter "Motherfucker, you got to be shiting me" or something similar :D.

Templeton can actually write a good story without making it up and impress Gus - who knew?

McNulty and the homeless guy in the car listening to the Pogues - now which of them was the nutcase again? :D

I think we may have come across the leak in the past. I trying to think did Prop Joe meet some one in the court house in one of the earlier seasons? Cant remember now.

I was just wondering. Could a city be that broke? I know nothing about economics and what not but I find hard to believe that they city could be that broke.

Apparantly so,not just a city either,a state can be very broke as well. I was ready something about Arnie having troubles in California because the state was plain broke.

I believe so yes. From comments made by the former Mayor of Baltimore, the show is extremely accurate in its portrayal of City Hall and the financial problems. Baltimore is a poor city in the US and it's all a far cry from the glitz and the glam other shows would have us believe in.

That was a nice subtle scene alright, the type of thing The Wire does well.

Glad I dont live there so.

Is it down to how the states is funded or is it the fac that the people are poor so the city is poor?
