Is it possible to get a good, light but solid bike for about €150? It can be old an beaten up as long as it's decent. In fact, it might prevent it being stolen if it looks tatty. A friend mentioned there being great value in older bikes that are still top quality. Is he right?

In my experience this sort of thing is very difficult to find in this country.

Before Christmas I purchased a 'Sacrifice' bike (does all the crap cycling) for €50. Raleigh steel road frame, donkeys years old. I was waiting over a year for the right bike at the right price.

You have to be very patient.

By the way, the bike is as unsexy as you could ask for, but this type never are even touched. Theives and messer do not like being uncool. Also I am probably the only person who would buy it.

Build yourself a fixie! I pulled a frame outta a skip and it's cost me like €60 so far, plus I learned how to build a wheel, and many other tasks I've been dying to learn!

    Here's some inspiration:

Or you could get a commuter: €120

Keep an eye out for vintage racers, they're fairly cheap for what you get out of them, and if they're still going, they're gonna be well built!

Like this:€180 (but you can find them cheaper!)

    Hope this helps!

I love these guys who advertise bikes and give no guidance at all on the frame size.
