I've been paid weekly, fortnightly and monthly in different jobs. I'm fortnightly at the moment and I prefer it to any of the others. There's not too many broke days as with monthly. Also, when you get paid you've enough money for any big purchases you might need to make, which you don't get with weekly.

25th of every month. Also no option for this. Monthly's not so bad, seeming as all my bills/rent are monthly anyway.

Salary paid on 28th of the month - or the preceding Friday if the 28th falls
on a weekend. Like others, no option on poll for this!

I thought 7 options would have been loads! :o

25th of the month, the preceeding Friday if that happens to be a Saturday or Sunday. Absolutely hated it at first but you do get used to it as you grow up and all your bills become monthly.

29th of every month...monthly wages suck...

HR, if you're reading this, even fortnightly would do...

    :D

It's very irregular for me - I'm in college and hold a part-time weekend job, but I never know until the Friday if I'm needed for Sat, Sun - and most of my income comes from nixxers. Web and graphic design, giving guitar lessons, the odd day on the buildings. I'm not going hungry anyway, and can always scrape a few squid together rent, a night out or whatever. Prefer it this way tho

Bi-weekly ftw. Used to hate getting it monthly cause I'd blow it all in the first week.

Well if you did a ****ing decent job then maybe...

    J/K.

I actually know what you mean.
People just aren't spending money. Everyone is worried about the impending slow down and are keeping their monies for a rainy day.

Work is thin on the ground and I didn't get paid fully for my last job.

mine is a total disaster at the moment. its generally last friday of ever month, however got paid december 21st, then jan 18th, and now last day of feb is the next one, makes no sense, 4 weeks, 4 weeks including christms etc and then 6 weeks without pay. i know lads at work that have 3 weeks left without pay and are scraping for money already.

Make sure the employer is not pulling a scam on you. This is a common practice among smaller employers. If you do the time, you deserve the money. END OF.

Like the scams you're probably pulling going on your previous post.

So if you lose your job because a multi national decides to move to India, one should then ignore his family obligations?

I was going to expand, consider all possibilities and post with something like this in mind, but I thought your initial post was a reply of some misplaced pride, or smugness(in the sense of, 'look at me, I don't work, or want to)of the fact that being on social welfare was to be considered okay for these reasons. Apologies for that. Twas a lazy comment on my part.

I have lost my job because of relocation too. I empathise.

No problem, I fully understand. I was trying to help remove the stigma attached to people in my position.

23rd of every month unless, like this month, it's on a weekend, so I'll be getting it on the 22nd. Can't come soon enough - all the bills came this week.

Paid weekly. Dont think I could survive getting paid monthly. I'd blow it all in the first week or two and be left starving and pennyless for the last two weeks!

Monthly. On the first of every month to be precise. Gradually getting used to it but this xmas was a pain. I got paid on Dec 1st (for November), then again on Dec 21st (for December) but had to wait till Feb 1st for my next monies!!! Those 41 days felt like 141 days. Plus when i got it about 80% of it had to go to paying for the xmas excesses. :(

    Bi-weekly ftw. :)

Get paid fortnightly. I think it works out great. Weekly paid...i would just tend to spend it...Monthly...too long between pay! Get payslips on the wednesday and paid on the thursday into the bank account. Pay day is next week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,322 ✭✭✭bennyx_o

Weekly, never been paid any other way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 744 ✭✭✭cold_filter

Monthly I like it as when i have a lot of money in my account i tend to be a miser with it and dont like spending it! Also I'm working out of the country so i get a daily rate which helps, i get that weekly.
