Sorry if this question has been answered before but I cant find it.

Im about to buy a Dell Inspiron 1525 and want to know if the DVD burner also burns cds?

The site says its a Optical Drive
spacer.gifbevel_selected.gif8x DVD+/-RW Optical drive, including SW

but I dont actually know what that means. All I want to be able to do is burn cds of music and pictures

    Thanks

When you see RW anywhere, it generally means Read/Write - i.e. it can read from discs and it can write to them.

DVD obviously means it can do the above to DVDs (i.e. make DVDs), but DVD writers can always create CDs too.

I thought it always meant ReWriteable as in it can write to the same disk multiple times (as long as that disc is an rw disk).
