    Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the standard harmonica is for playing blues and maybe a bitta bluegrass. There is a Swan chromatic harmonica in my house but it seems bigger than most as it has 16 holes.
can anyone help me here? thanks.

The standard would be a 10 hole diatonic harmonica for blues.

Yeah, the 10 hole diatonic is your man alright, if you're starting out on the blues harmonica route steer clear of the junk you buy attached to starter books and the like, go and buy yourself a hohner special 20 in the key of C and you'll be flying. There are others out there, but i find these to be quite nice and the last ages too. They're not expensive either.
