    Hi,

When i look at the salary surveys online do they factor in bonus schemes. I heard a rumor of what my boss is planning on offering us this year but it includes bonus and is below the industry average.

I imagine the surveys are salary only.
I'm niot sure how accurate they are, i found online figures very low.

Yeah I also don't think they're particularly accurate. In my experience, salaries vary wildly for the same job.

Example: I worked as QA in a couple of companies. With roughly the same experience, the salaries ranged from 30k - 70k.

Same here. I don't know if it's just IT or not, but loads of job titles are so vague. For instance, you can see Software Engineer, Software Developer, Web Developer, Programmer, Webmaster etc in a salary review. Depending on the company, these titles can be very interchangeable. I find a (slightly) more accurate way to do a salary survey is to look at loads of vacancies that suit your skill-set and see what they are paying.

I checked the Hotel and catering survey last week. It's below average imo too.
