What's the punishment,if any? Will it have an effect on future library rentals?

I'm going away tomorrow and forgot to drop me book back...

50c per book per day late I believe.

In may there are super fines, €2.50 per book per day.

Or you could try renewing it online... Go to the library catalogue, then select User Record on the left.

The barcode is your student number with two digits attached. My student ID card says this:

    04xxxxxx 6

(I did the LC in '04, then follows the rest of my student number, then a space, then a 6 because it's my sixth student card (JF, JF-post-turning 18, SF, JS, JS-post-Student Records Office feeling sympathetic at my old-looking card, SS).)

So for me the "barcode" is 04xxxxxx06. For you (assuming you're JF) it's something like 0712345601.

Your password (if I recall correctly) is on the little slip of paper you were given at Registration. If you don't have this, I'd recommend popping into the Duty Librarian in the Berkeley and asking for the password.

The problem is, you can't 'Online Renew' late books. So if it's overdue, you have to pay the fine. If it's not yet overdue, you can renew it at any time at all. It's a really good idea to remember the Library User Password if you can. I always kept losing me little slip. In case anyone's wondering, no I haven't slept properly....

I don't think it's the year you did the LC- I did my LC in '03 but I entered this college in '06. My student card begins with 06.

Hence it's the year you began your life in TCD.

It's your CAO number, so it's the year you do your CAO.

For instance, my student number this year will start with 085 (and in fact including the two digit bit at the end, it will actually look like a phone number). :)

If you find it difficult to remember then you can always change it. When you go into your Library User record, just click on "change password" and change it to a more memorable four digits.
