Fashion buyer: Any idea what route i should take to become 1? I really need help!!

    Im a 5th yr student thinking about career paths and i'd really love to become a fashion buyer..There is a plc course in Crumlin college:fashion buying and merchandising but I wanna do a degree..The other problem is I would really love to do French also.. any ideas please??

    buyer is a super job, suppliers have to be really nice to you and its quite challenging and interesting

    I would do that course in Crumlin and then go onto a business degree, combination of two would put you in contention

    probably the best route to a buyer job is start on the shop floor in somewhere like Arnotts or BT working summers and part time and then as soon as any office job comes up apply for that take it and then apply for a junior buyer role.. that route would take 2 - 4 years I reckon

    otherwise get good college qualifications and apply directly to a junior buyer role

    but working in fashion part time / summers will demonstrate that you have a sustained interest in fashion
