    Bit of an LOL moment, fixing someones laptop was beeping on boot and had windows issues, fixed the windows issues and went into bios to fix the beeping, found laptop was looking for floppy drive, so set new boot order.....but

    owner failed to tell me Escape key was broken, not i cant get out of Bios, i can power it off but would like to stop the beeping escape needed to save Cmos.


    Any ideas?

    In the bios there should be a save and exit option so you will not need the escape key at all.

    Is f10 not save changes and exit in the bios?

    can you not hit right arrow across on top of menu and just hit return to save changes?

    its a inspiron 1100 (the ALT+P type bios) only escape will exit bios.

    well its fixed cept for the beeping

    :p
