Registering as a Citizen?

    Hi,
I'm a 19 year old student, and have been living here since early September '07. I'm born in London but both of my parents are from Ireland. Should I/do I need to register myself as a citizen here? I'm on a four-year course and will probably work here as a graduate afterwards (currently looking for a part-time job).

Is there anything I should do to make myself 'official'?

    Ta

EDIT: Oh and I have a [lost] Irish passport, if that makes a difference

Do you have an Irish PPSN number?

Nope, I meant to ask about that too. I'll follow the link, thanks.

Anything else I need to know?

Other than reporting your lost passport, you don't need to so anything else.

If you had an Irish passport then you're already an Irish citizen !

If you ever want to interact with the government, (part-time work, drivers licence, rent-relief, ... lots of things), then you need to get a PPS number.

To do this, you need proof of your address.

Actually, proof of your address and residence here is useful to have: to qualify for health-care, you need to be ordinarily-resident (here for 3 months, intending to stay for 12). to qualify for lots of other stuff, you need to be habitually-resident (here for 2 years, intending to stay for good). To get either of these .. you need to be able to prove it.
