    Interesting. Did the helicopter actually crash, or did they parachute onto the island deliberately? The girl seemed very cagey about the helicopter and where it was trying to land, like maybe there wasn't even one.

    I wonder were they expecting to use the gas masks too, like the way Kelvin had safety gear that he was originally told to wear if going outside. Maybe these people are Dharma (seems the obvious choice right now) and they're not sure if the gas Ben used to kill the original Dharma group is still around, or if he has more.

    I would have thought the end of episode 1 with the helicopter flying over jack and kate with a guy parachuting out of it which they find at the end would failrly much suggest there is a helicopter,along with the clip above showing another one flying towrds the island.

    Having looked at the last episode a 2nd time I did see the helicopter this time. Missed that before. Still begs the question of whether it crashed or not.     From the end of the last episode and the clips above i would say that this all isnt at once. You comparing the clip above with the end of the last episode as if this all happened in the first episode.For example when the first guy parachutes its dark, evening or night time and he alone parachutes. The clip above from episode 2 shows its clearly day time when the female is stuck in the tree,there is also a clip of a helicopter flying in day light. Its possible that she jumped from that helicopter, not the one at the end of episode 1 at that same time the guy was jumping. Whether or not it crashed or that part is a lie we dont know yet cos we havent seen her parachute in as its in the next episode. She may mean the helicopter she was on not the helicopter we see at the end of episode 1.

    I would say in regards to the helicopters, they had no intention of landing to rescue the losties, just to drop off the parachutists as a scout party to find out the situation before sending in the 'troops'. They'll try and find out as much about was has happened on the island as possible , before contacting the rest of the ships crew.
