I see the Lakehill Tug of War club in Knockmore were honoured in the 2007 Western People/Ulster Bank Sport Stars awards. It’s nice to see the lads getting a bit of recognition for their achievements last year. They won 2 National Div 1 championships as well as a silver & bronze medal at the UK championships in Wales. Two of the club members were also part of the Irish team who won 640kilo gold at the European Championships in England last year, that was Irelands first gold at 640kilo for 12 years.
Ireland is currently ranked 4th in the World Rankings and next year is a very important year as the World Championships in Sweden are a qualification event for the World games in Taiwan the following year. We need to finish in the top 6 to qualify.
