Worst shop ever. Their perfume pumped through their AC systems, the loud music so you can't think, the lights so dull that you can't even tell the colour of the clothes and shop assistants that have all the intelligence and charisma of a christmas pudding.

    Hollister is also similarly ****

No, it stinks, IMHO. I was in that shop in London. It's like shopping in a night-, sorry, nite-club. You can't hear yourself think, you can't tell the colours of the clothes, you can't find the tills, only the queue for the tills.

I think they do it like that on purpose - put people through a pain barrier - so as to attach some kudos to buying their stuff. When you see someone wearing A&F, you know they - or more likely, a parent - suffered for their art...

I suppose they were doing it so as to put 34-year-old farts off coming in! They don't want Jeremy Clarkson types doing to their brand what they did to Levi's. :D

There is no official A&F store in Ireland, there are some shops selling it, some of whose products could best be described as dubious in terms of authenticity

The Abercrombie shop in London has outrageous prices. An 80 dollar jumper costs 80 pounds, etc. The price is doubled. It's amazing.

why do some of the people here care what this person wants to wear they never asked for an opinon!!!

you can get some abercrombie stuff on ebay if you like usually works out cheaper but its the authenticity that you have to be careful about really.

Because some people get kicks out of labelling others as consumers and sheep, and posting tired old image macros, while trying to stir the sh1t. That I agree with his sentiments are irrelevant.

On topicly, I'm dubious about the authenticity of the above-mentioned store in the Powerscourt Townhouse - the clothes are layed out haphazzardly, and there isn't a A&F vibe from the place.

    Order online!

You can get Abercrombie in a few shops in Dublin. Arnotts were stocking them for a while but as has been said before - the prices are rediculous!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,469 ✭✭✭Pythia

Arnotts did Old Navy, doubt they did Abercrombie as Abercrombie don't sell on to other retailers.

Not even that, I was over there two weeks ago and refused to by anything because it's so ridiculously overpriced. I was in Vegas before Christmas and bought half the shop, and all the stuff I bought was in the London store.

A hoodie I bought cost $59.50 and I saw it in London for £70, so they ain't just change the $ to £, they are adding extra on! I even saw a pair of jeans for £168. At that point I took that as it is time to GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE! Ridiculously overpriced and insane. It's a complete and utter rip off. If you intended buying loads there, you'd actually be better off getting flights to NYC, buying loads there, and you'd still have money left over than if you just bought the stuff in London.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 390 ✭✭Buttons_sb

No there is no official store in Dublin but apparently they were over 'scouting' locations in Dublin recently, so you never know we may see a store in the near future popping up on our shores!
    =]

i'd like to see their prices if they opened in dublin because they'd be getting their stock and prices from london.

    80euros for a t-shirt anyone?

Judging from their UK website, mens t-shirts costs £30 and polos £50, which is reasonable. This isn't River Island we're talking about, they're a label.

Not being smug or anything here but why is it that Abercrombe is so popular in Ireland right now, despite (or maybe because of) the fact you can't walk into a shop and buy their stuff? From living in the UK for a while I've noticed that nobody really wears polo's here, but if they do, they're usually Lyle and Scott. So why is Abercrombie so damn big here? Is it just the D4-look explosion of the last few years?

Rather then start a new thread, I was listening to the radio on the redevelopment of Arnotts and they hope to build 47 "seperate" shops to the main shop itself. Some of the tenants of these new shops include Armani and Abercrombie and fitch

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 968 ✭✭✭Pigletlover

I don't really see wht the big deal with paying higher prices for Abercrombie and Fitch this side of the water is, we do it with nearly every other brand. I paid $30 for a Tommy polo shirt in the States, it would be at least double that here. Same with a pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans - $200, I don't know how much they would cost here but I'm sure it would be a lot more than €140.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 364 ✭✭Ms Inquisitive

'7 for all Mankind' jeans can set you back approx €450 here, hence, I only but them on the other side of the Atlantic!!

A shop in my home town has started selling A&F, stickers, labels and designs might have you fooled until you feel the quality of the jumper! Very obvious!!

The Cripps Shoe Shop in Terenure sell Abercrombie, well according to their window signs they do. It's beside Eddie Rockets. Haven't a clue whether it's real or not, I don't really care either!

I've never bought abercrombie, what the big deal about them?

Knockoffs and some genuine stuff available in Dublin. Shops in the Swan Centre, DunLaoghaire Shopping Centre and on Marlborough St. Also one opening in Dundrum. They sell Abercrombie, Aeropostale, Ed Hardy, UGG, Juicy Couture and American Eagle. They've got a Bebo site too:

    http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=5037924682

Bought stuff in the Dun Laoghaire branch, which is called LA Style. Grand stuff, two A&F hoodies, €50 each. Very cosy and look the exact same as the genuine ones. Shop assistant claimed they were the real deal but wouldn't believe it for a second. Do look good, though. Genuine ones are €95  but difference between those and fakes are obvious. Heavier cotton, precision stitching, blah blah blah. Worth a look, though.

Abercrombie is about the level of Topshop/River Island in the states. It's not quite RL or Paul Smith.

I have a friend from the Northside who went to Leeson Street. She wears Abercrombie. The girls from th Southside mocked her and said she's from the Northside, she 'doesn't have the right to wear it'. Strange.

Personally I like the fit of their clothes, the tshirts especially fit me better and more nicely than anything I can get over here.. they make them longer (as do other popular brands you can get in the states like Hollister, Aeropostale, etc.) which go nicely over jeans without them riding up and showing any skin, and theyre generally made of a nicer softer material, I find. And the hoodies are very comfortable and generally come with a longer sleeve than hoodies you get here.

Thats why I like Abercrombie, anyway.

Yeah I agree with the above post.

I think that they don't seem to lose their shape or colour either.
I don't wear them because if the "brand name" or to follow a trend. I enjoy the fit of the clothes and especially like the colours available

Been to the London shop and its pants

the clothes are all the same, and they have that really cheap stuck-on Fabric lettering. They look likes tops from Motion picture

    and the general price is £50 [€68] for a T Shirt and £70+ [€100] for a Hoody/Jumper

All the staff walk around groping eachother, and they have a random topless guy at the door

And its really dark, with LOUD music

    like a nightclub

Its all just a big fad

The completely over-enthusiastic obsession for Abercrombie with Irish people right now is an embarrassing fad and will die out once the skangers get in on the act, which usually sounds the death of any Irish trend.

I was pretty shocked when she told me. But she seemed quite upset so I doubt she was lying.

How much do the hoodies sell for? Is there a big mark up? Whats the name of the shop?

The hoodies are only slightly more expensive than you'd pay in the states.

The shop is in the powerscourt centre. If you walk in the FCUK entrance, with FCUK on your right and Saints and Sinners on your left, the abercrombie shop is in the right corner. Not sure if it has a name but there are only a handfull of shops in that centre so you'll easily find it.
