Ok, so I found out a while back that eating 6 meals a day is not impossible, or even close, however I have no decided I wish to go on a low carb diet and have no idea how my daily routine should go....honestly I don't mind if there is little variation in food, as I'm pretty intent on doing this. I'm only planning on following this pattern for a couple of months max.

So can anyone give me a guidline to low carb diet, please.

Eggs for breakfast (with or without bacon) or steak. Mushrooms are a good idea.

Fish for lunch. If brown bagging, something like cold salmon or tuna and mayo with a BIG bag of green salad.

Chicken or steak for dinner with lots and lots of green vegetables.

Normal PWO shake of whey and a small amount of glucose.

Snacks of nuts or seeds or cheese, with vegetables where possible.

Cottage cheese and a little peanut butter is a good low carb supper.

Also note: some veg like carrots, peas, parsnips, and corn are relatively carby, so don't overdose on those. Good veg to have includes broccoli, spinach, peppers, etc.

This is what I had to day, pretty crap, but its a start. There was nothing in the house, so this is all I had today.

Hard Boiled Egg-Not a fan, I would prefer two poaches eggs but meh.

Wholegrain bread with salami, lettuce, small bit of butter and mayo and scallions

Steak for dinner, and I basically whored out the veg.

    Lot of water, as always.

Half bottle of lucozade original(a mistake really)

Did an hour run in the evening, and did about 40 minutes of weights in the gym, and a bit more when I got home.
    ____________________________________________________________

My diet will look something like this when completed:

    1. Oat pancakes(ode to Rubadub) or this class egg dish, where you basically put vegetables in it, fry on pan for a bit, and then put it in the oven. Sounds class.

    2. Sandwich(wholegrain, I am only 18, I know bread is best avoided but still) Salami, chicken, turkey etc. as fillings(obviously not at once)

Dinner: Steak or chicken fillets with vegetables. Is brown rice ok?

I was thinking rice cakes with peanut butter as a snack, what do you think?

I love nuts and seeds, are the packs in Tesco alright?

Probably OD'd on the carrots and parsley, but I got plenty of brocoli and pepper.

Actually in regards to the stuff like whey, I have yet to hit into this sort of thing. I know its been said to death, but where do I get this? Can it be bought in small doses?

Asparagus, avocado, aubergine, broccoli, bokchoy, brussel sprouts, beet greens, cabbage, cucumber, celery, chard, celeriac, courgette, dandelion, endive, fennel, green beans, garlic, kale, leeks, lettuce, mangetout, mushrooms, mustard greens, nettles, olives, okra, peppers, rhubarb, radishes, rocket, spring greens, spinach, baby sweetcorn (not full size), watercress. And those are just the ones I eat.

Yes, vegetables have carbs, but all the ones listed has so much fibre that it works out at around 1-2g per portion. No excuse not to eat them.

However, try to avoid bread. If you must have something, eat Ryvita or some other crispbread, but ideally, go for lots of salad or veg anywhere you'd normally eat bread, rice or pasta.

Salami is one of those things I'd keep for when you are really stuck. Buy a kilo of chicken drumsticks, roast the lot and then eat one or two when you need meat in a hurry. Also, tins of sardines are amazingly cheap, and are excellent for this diet.

Scrambled eggs or omlettes are a great start to the morning and very quick.

    Very low carb pancake recipe

    4 tbs. flaxmeal
    2 egg whites
    2 tbs. sour cream
4 tbs. water ( I only used three)
    splenda (optional)
    cinnamon (optional)
Baking powder ( I use a little more than a tsp.)

This was originally for waffles but I don't have a waffle maker so I poured them onto a griddle and made pancakes. They turn out better if you make smaller pancakes and let them cook quite a while.

Avoid rice cakes, In spite of tasting like sytrofoam, they are still amazingly high carb and high-gi. Use Ryvita in preference.

Whey; buy in any health food shop. Mostly it's sold in tubs of around a kilo, which will last you for a couple of months, but some do have it in smaller tubs.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure I seen some of that Ryvita stuff strolling around the cupboard, I shall check it out.

Thats it alright, but their is NOTHING wrong with saturated fats too, they are just as important as poly's and mono's maybe even more so for males as there is evidence to show that saturates keep test levels up..

I wouldn't cut the carbs totally either you'll need to down some pure unadulterated carbohydrates PWO, some oats and glucose in a shake or somethin along those lines would be good.

I was just reading about a study carried out at the Texas A&M university. They took 55 people aged between 60 and 69 and made them all weight train, eating the same amount of calories, but different foods.

The group eating the high cholesterol diet had much bigger muscle gains than the low cholesterol group. In fact, some of the low cholesterol group actually lost muscle strength.

I buy them all locally, most of them from the Temple Bar farmer's market.
