I think that Music in WIT is located in the older campus - College St. Campus its known as. Dont know anybody who took the course, but like most courses lecturers change a fair bit.

Plenty of stuff to do in Waterford, some clubs and pubs. Wednesday night most students head out in the town.

College has plenty of Clubs & Socs.

Yeah there is a decent amount of music down here. If you are interested in metal/rock type stuff check out www.underground1.net . Most people there are from waterford , or live in waterford and are all very much into music.

One of the lads from my old class is doing music in WIT. All I really know about it is that he only has 13 hour weeks compared to a 22 - 26 hour week which I would guess would be the norm. I guess you are supposed to spend the rest of the time practicing .

hippety: Easy on the txt spk please :)

WIT is a good college, I dont regret going there. There pretty unorganized, but the courses they offer are good. The main campus is very well done, with the secondary campus not being a bad place either!

just trying to do as much research as possible :). it's either cork or waterford.

so what course are you doing?

I'm doing Marketing, it's located on the Main Campus which you won't have much contact with except for the odd visit to sort out grants and the like.
    are the lecturers good?

I personally have my mix of good lecturers and bad lecturers and even though you'll be doing a totally different course, I'd imagine you'd have your selection of boring lecturers too!
is it easy to make friends? and do the societies etc help?

It's as easy as you want it to be! Joining societies is probably one of the best ways to get to know people with similar interests and if you find there isn't a society that interests you, the clubs and societies office will be more than happy to assist you.
is ther a gud music scene in waterford
There are plenty of venues which have live bands on a daily basis to cater for many tastes. The Dome Bar (located on the Main Campus) also bring "big" acts to the venue on a regular basis with The Blizzards and Aslan being two of the names that spring to mind.

what is the town like, activities, and what clubs/societies are there, if any, at WIT?
A fairly comprehensive list of clubs and societies can be found at the Sport and Recreation Homepage. There is a well established equestrian club who go on regular outings. More information can be found Here

One thing that I will say about WIT in general is that while it's large (over 10,000 students go there), because it operates out of two campuses (and soon to be three), it's very intimate and you'll find yourself seeing the same people day in day out which will hlep you get to know them better. We were told on our induction day, and I couldn't have put it better, that "if you were to go to UCD, or any of the large universities, you could set yourself on fire and noone wouild take any notice".

Good luck with whatever course you do decide to opt for and best of luck in your exams!
