..not really!! But I do have a question.. I'm applying for a trader position with a financial services company based in Dublin in their Sales & Trading department. My academic record is fairly standard, nothing the will make me stand out.. however I do have a natural ability for calculating odds, work exceptionally well under pressure, and have a strong interest in the financial markets. I'm 24 and my professional background is largely sales up until now, but after some soul searching and alot of nights awake until 6am thinking '**** this is'nt for me..' I believe the world of finance is the way to go. Is there anyone out there who works in this field that can give me any tips on tailoring my CV? Anything you know from the inside that you know would grab the HR depts attention? Any help much is much appreciated.. thanks!

My best advice is Google the job title, this will bring up relevant keywords, then see if these keywords can be used to describe your previous work experience and use at least one in every paragraph.

    Never fails to impress..

Can I just ask what you guys think of proprietary trading companies like this as graduate jobs?

I know to only consider ones that pay a salary for at least the first 12 months, offer good training and offer good retained profit percentages when you start trading.

Are roles at that type of trading company as good in terms of renumeration and exit options as say a role in a traditional asset management company? Barclays Wealth Management, Coutts, etc?
