Just got one yesterday and I'm slowly working my way through tuning (worst experiance ever).

I was just wondering if anyone has any tips, knew websites etc. that could help me out in learning to play it properly (I was just banging away at norweigen wood and within you without you for 6 hours last night lol).

Also anyone know where I can get some mizrabs? None were sent with it!

Congratulations on your new acquisition. A truly beautiful instrument and one I would hope some day to dare tackle myself. I'm currently investigating something a bit smaller - a ukulele - I drive for a living and this might be the perfect antidote to the traffic mayhem.:D
Why the sitar - has it been a long term ambition? And do you intend teaching yourself or have you lessons lined up? And what are mizrabs?
    All the best,
    Hermy:)

I've always loved the sound even from a young age but then when I started getting into The Beatles I decided I had to have one, only took 10 years lol. Like most of my instruments I plan on teaching myself because I tend to get extremely fustrated if the person telling me what to do is sitting in front of me :P

Mizrabs are small wire plectrums that fit on the tip of your index finger and aren't available in Ireland as far as I know, I might have to go back to the site I got the sitar on to get them. I also broke a string last night tuning so I'll need a new set :'(

It will all be worth it in the end I hope! I was thinking of either a ukulele, a cello, a bazooki or an epiphone casino for my next purchase but I haven't decided yet. All of them are great instruments!

It would if I was re-learning the Guitar lol! A sitar is like an indian version of a guitar (only with 19 strings and movable frets). I had a look for sitar lessons on youtube but since it isn't a popular instrument there aren't many videos, only extremely rough guides...

    Thanks anyway!
