That would be so class. If I was going to have a funeral I'd want that played.

Would have to be something by QOTSA for me. Better Living Through Chemistry being my favourite, so would have to be up there. Song for the Dead may be suitable. Either of those.

The local choir has some fancy classic singer that does the Christmas mass and funerals, she would nearly put people to tears with her singing. I'd have her singing some song that gets really somber. At the end have that screaming ghost thing from those stupid power point and java games burst in.

Fire by Jimi Hendrx while being cremated.

Johnny Cash - We'll Meet Again. All of his family join in on the final chorus and I swear to god, there wouldn't be a dry eye in the place after that.

If not that then maybe Whipping Boy - When We Were Young or Nick Cave - Into My Arms.

This thread came up a while back and someone suggested this -

    Song starts at 24 seconds!

I think it's called "the breakfast machine" by Danny Elfman.

Imagine the look on their faces :D

It'd be grief mixed with complete and utter confusion. Probably hushed whispers of 'are they playing the wrong song?' etc. Hilarious!!

I'd probably have that song 'Dont you forget about me' like they played in the end of that family guy episode where peter poses as a kid in meg's school.

Yes, and the played the song at his funeral.
Then the board made a forum out his posts for his family.

Damn it YOU beat me to The Macarena :p Anyway serious answer: Mazzy Star: Fade into You. Dunno why exactly- something about Hope Sandoval's ethereal voice - irresistible.

Serious answer, Halleliuah by Jeff Buckley, the most amazing song ever recorded

Whenever one of these threads comes up, loads of people always vote for AC/DC's Highway to Hell. Not a bad choice, but the real AC/DC fans who really want to shock all the gathered mourners would vote for Hell Ain't a Bad Place To Be. It's awesome.

I used to think about this subject all the time, and I had my hear set on Good Morning by the Dandy Warhols. These days, I might go with something by Sigur Ros, maybe Sorgolopur (or whatever it's called) off Takk, or the last track on ( ).
Who'll Stop The Rain by Creedence was a great choice too.

Actually, I have it! In My Time of Dying by Led Zeppelin! It's my favourite Zeppelin song, and it is about the very subject. It would have people rocking in the aisles and playing air-drums, as it is the track that features Bonham's best work, in my opinion.
