"No signal" with HDMI connection to Samsung LCD

    Hi Guys

A couple weeks ago I bought a LE32R82B Samsung 32" LCD. I was having problems with my dvd player anyway, so when it sometimes threw a "no signal" on the HDMI connection (it was an upscaler) I figured it had bit the dust.

So I bought a new DVD player, a Samsung 1080p7, also an upscaler. I bought a new HDMI lead as well.

It does the same thing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it says "no signal", even though the LCD recognises that something is powered on and connected to the HDMI output.

I'm going to have to cart this thing into Harvey Norman tomorrow if I can't figure it out myself. Anyone seen this before? Any advice?

    Thanks

The only time Ive seen that before where nothing was actually really wrong , if you know what I mean, was where the TV will take up to a maximum of 1080i , like most 32 inch TV's , and the player was set to upscale to 1080p.

Check that and see if thats whats going on , Details of what signal types your TV will take will be in the manual , likewise how to set the output on the upscaler will be in the manual for that.

If the TV will only take up to 1080i then set the upscaler to do the same , or set it to 720p , which would probably be better anyway as it would be closer to the native res of the TV.

It worked tonight... this might be down to the fact that I don't leave my devices on standby, and turn them all on at once with a remote to the wall socket.

I have to turn the DVD player on first apparently. I'm off tomorrow so I will test it again. And again. :-D

Now that you mention it yes , something very similar happens with my setup , I have the hdmi from the ps3 and dvd going through an av receiver, and if I dont turn on the TV before the DVD I get a blank screen ! So turn on order is probably important with some setups.
