HP 530 - Need to create a Recovery CD

I just puchased a HP 530 Laptop. It does not come with its own RCD's so it provides you some software to create your own. While trying this process over the last few days it never let me complete, and I had issues when writing to the DVD's I was using.

So I decided to uninstall the software and re-install.

Now I think this has removed the software, and recovery partition(?), and now when I have reinstalled I do not have the option anymore to create RCD's?

Is there anything I can do, or other options available to me?

Thanks, will check into that.

Is there anyway that I can create my own RCD's though ?

Possibly, if you can find that software you had on their site. I didn't see any mention on that page but I didn't look too well.

Thanks, will follow up with HP, and see where I get. I believe the recovery partition was lost with the software uninstall.

Well I done an online chat with HP Support, basically thinking I was screwed as the uninstall had removed the recovery partition, however the guy after reviewing said HP would provide me with RCD's ! :)

I had to call a support number, give them my details, and should now have the RCD's delivered in 10days ! :D

Way less painful that I expected ! Happy Days !

be very careful. after 10 days, call them if u havent received it. it took them 2 months and 4 calls before i got my recovery dvd.

everytime they said it went through, and when i called they said it didnt.

good luck?

Excuse me going off topic but how do you turn the words 'try here' to a link? Do you have to type the url code in.

Try here

Or you can highlight the text and press the hyperlink button then put the url in the pop-up box.

But where do you put the words in the pop up box, in this example the 'try here' part.Or do you have to type the code 'longhand' to have the words?

You don't type the words 'try here' in the pop-up box, you type the words 'try here' as normal with the rest of your post. Then you highlight the words 'try here' and then press the hyperlink button.

Oh right, cheers, many thanks. It is the same way as putting link in Outlook Express 6?

Yes free recovery CD's, as I am in warranty and within 30days of purchase I assume. Didn't ask to many questions once they said they were sending them out........ ;)

You are lucky.

I have an NX8220 here that I formatted. I have the original OS and Drivers discs. Bloody thing won't boot into an XP CD. Keeps asking for an original "Restore Plus!" CD. It is like something is coded into the BIOS?!?!

Guess what.... there is none! And I tried my colleagues NX8220.... There is no software on his to create restre CD's!

Rang HP Out of Warranty @95 cent a minute or something... The NX8220 is not on their system. That was a waste of ten minutes.

Here is hoping that their email/chat support can help.
:( Sorry. Had to rant.
