Has anybody here attended or got married outside of a registry office since the relaxed legislation came in last year, e.g. in a hotel etc.

I know the civil ceremony only lasts around 10 mins in the registry office but just wondered how it works outside of that environment and could it be drawn out a little more.....any experiences / ideas welcome :)

    Hey,

I'm due to get hitched in a civil ceremony in a hotel in August - we met up with the registrar 2 weeks ago, and she said that the basic wedding ceremony lasts about 15 minutes, but you can have music, a candle ceremony and also one or two readings before, during and after the ceremony, so overall you could drag it out to about 30 minutes.

exactly, you can insert extra bits into the ceremony if you wish to drag it out.

Cheers, really useful to know. Will investigate it further now :)
