Dustin to possibly represent Ireland in Eurovision?

Just heard it on Ray D'arcy there!

Dustin is performing one of 6 songs going up for a public vote in a show on RTÉ on the 23rd of February.

Does anyone still think Dustin is funny?! Still.. better than Dervish!

And because it'll be a public vote this year, you can just see Dustin winning it. It'll apparently be a song taking the piss outta the Eurovision.

That would put Ireland back on the eurovision scene with a bang. lmao.

It shows what a total farce the eurovision has become.

About time they started taking the piss out of it, that competition is a joke since the publiv voting came into play (ok i know its a joke anyway but at least we used to win it a bit :P) and every performer we send over gets sent home with Nil Points so why not send Dustin, at least we'll net nothing and deserve it this time. We'll get the last laugh :D

Has become? It's funny, but it's only a farce now because we're not winning it. We were always shoite, but now everything is shoite. So shoite = shoite, therefore, fair chance for all!

He'll probably win the bloody thing..

We should treat this competition with disdain so send Dustin let him sing a xenophobic song maybe be anti new European immigrants make us a disgrace to Europe anyway the last thing we want to do is win it did it not cost the taxpayer a fare price the last few times we were forced to host it because the eejits we sent over couldn't do the job right and lose

We should do an experiment to see if Boards.ie can send Dustin to the Eurovision.

I think Lordi managed that, thank you very much.

    Its the day of rockening!

    I support this venture.

Maybe Boyzone should go over too though, add a bit of class to the situation. Then Dustin could repeatedly say Keeeeeeigh, Keeeeggghhhhh, Keeeeiiiiihth in that halarious way of his.

It was always a joke. If we were winning it, it was even more of a joke if anything. Remeber Dana? *shudder shudder*

Dustin to win. Pushing an East European Simaese twin into second, followed the rest of Eastern Europe taking places 4 through to about 50. And then the UK (trying to prentend they haven't been taking it seriously all along, despute Terry having "a funny feeling that this could just be our [their] year" three hours earlier.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

yeah how did we ever let that little northie thing represent us all kinds of everything indeed and how the hell did she win it all went wrong there it all went wrong there I say

If its a public vote then he's certain to win, majority of people that vote are young and use their mobiles... We gave 12points to Lithuania with this gem in 2006...

I hope Dustin goes through, he has a better chance than mickey joe and the rest of the clowns that went through.

We need to drastically change the entries we send, love ballads and cheesy sh1t doesnt work anymore, were up against it with all the eastern bloc voting for each other. Look at Lordi, they were crazy looking, but it works...

    Dustin FTW!!!

Considering how we have done so far in the eurovision Dustin will probably make us look good although I doubt many people would have a clue about it.

I'll be voting for him - certainly would make RTE's gang like Marty Whelan who think the eurovision is serious look like fools.

No, the Lithuanian immigrant population gave that gem 12 points in 2006...

Hell, I thought the Ukrainian cross-dresser was the best of the bunch last time around. Keeps a sense of perspective!

    Send Dustin!

    NTM

Well then, are we agreed? When it comes to voting, every Boardsie will vote Dustin to Eurovision.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

tallaght voted him president twice didnt they?

on the eurovision, it got worse when entries no longer had to sing in their native language and all the entries started being in english... It sort of added a bit of respect when you have no idea what they are saying.

    EDIT:

    SEND MR TAYTO NEXT YEAR!

I just want to hear Terry Wogan's response when he sees Dustin representing Ireland.

    Would certainly be priceless.

if dustin gets picked, i would bet anything that he will win. Its the way the eurovision has gone...from a talent show to an entertainment show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,309 ✭✭✭✭Bard

Send him and get him to sing "Good Lookin' Woman".

What a tribute to Joe Dolan THAT would be!

    Yes.

The guy that does Dustin's voice falls victim of the common "yore" mispronunciation. Eurovison in a common Dublin accent is Yuro-vision. He pronounces it yore-ovision. Another 2 words he doesn't pronounce right are footwork and sure.

Apologies for being pedantic but almost everyone that has to put on a strong Dublin accent gets those words wrong. "yore ma" is ok but if you're ending a sentence with the word "your" it's pronounced "yur" in Dublinese.

Nevermind Dustin, why not go the whole hog and get Zig & Zag to do it instead? they had some great tunes in the 1990s*!

*I was only a child they were good then, i like to move it, move it!

Hopefully the UK will give is 12 points then!

Best thing about that song is they all look like villians from hollywood action films.

Brilliant news, thought I heard something like this on the radio this morning too!

Anything to demean that "competition" further would be a good thing in my books.

My vote will go to the Palestinian entry. '
    Palestine is in Europe, right?

The song is called "Go Gaza Go".

You're clearly wrong. The best thing was the fat man having a fit towards the end. A crucial component of every good song.

I would have to agree there. The second singer, in the center, ( Who sings the "WE ARE, the winners, Of Eurovision' :p)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9qrO92xDpA

Looks a bit too like Gary Oldman for me.

However,Dustin is still the best Man/Turkey for the job, after all he already has hit albums, and a duet with bono !!!

So have I got this straight...Dustin is definitely in a competition which has a public vote to decide who goes to represent Ireland? Then there's no question that he'll be going. Sure half the country wanted him as president...This should be funneh.

Dustin is now 3/1 to win this with the bookies as opposed to 33/1 yesterday.

Think he has a really good chance of winning the Irish contest anyway.

He is also 66/1 to win the competition outright.

at least it'll look like we don't care when we come last and Lithuania or something wins

    Who's with me?
