I've been experimenting and looking into lipo myself, they are a lot more 'labour intensive' than what we are all used to and considerable more dangerous. If your thinking about going the lipo road get the best lipo charger and balancer you can and only get lipos with a rating of 15c or above anything lower and its use in a aeg put to much strain on the lipo and its liable to do nasty things.

I normal stick to a 7.4v 2cell lipos which give about the same output as a 9v ni-mh, the reason for this is that a lipo have a working range of 3v - 4v if any cell drops below 3v its become unstable, with the 2cell 7.4v lipos this can not really happen, the danger lvl is 6v ( first cell 3v second cell 3v = 6v ) and aegs need well above this level to function, with the 11v 3cell packs you can get bellow this level ( first cell 3v second cell 3v third cell 3v = 9v ) the pack can be bellow safe levels and still manage to run a aeg which is again a dangerous situation.

Know I'm not very good at explaining this kind of thing and I've only starting to learn about lipos and such myself, the RC groups have been using these things for years and have a lot of experience and always good for advice, but there use in airsoft is still in its early years.

p.s. I would stay away from the cheap lipos from firefox and such companies found on rsov and gunner, they normally run at 12c discharge which is rather low and are of questionable quality, for what is in reality a chemical bomb its not the time to start being cheap.

Yes, it is way too big

    sig rules here

anyway, regarding the G36, sounds interesting alright, but higher rate of fire requires trigger discipline, I wouldnt like to see a bunch of newbs running around with the new kwa kit running on 11.1v lipo's and pissing people off because they dont know how to let go of the trigger when someone says hit :)

As Puding pointed out aswell, LiPo batteries require alot more attention than your average ni-mh or ni-cd, discharging them too low will actually permanently damage the battery and overcharging them can have nasty effects too

Coming from an RC background, Lipo's are great, if you know how to use them properly!!!!

They are the most dangerous of batteries, and once the go they go big!

You do not have to overcharge or undercharge a lipo for it to go boom, simply piercing the lipo in everyday use will cause it to flame out as well, so if the stock of your AEG happens to PINCH the lipo, FLAME ON ;-)

If this happens in rc, fair enough, its not up against your body and you just lose your car/boat/plane! But in an AEG I would not like to have that strapped around my neck/shoulder if/when it happens, just for a small performance increase!

As for multiple cells, when one flames out, as you think it is about to die down, it usually makes the other cells flame out like dominoes, again, not a good thing to happen!

Even the RC guys who have decided to use lipo charge them in fireproof containers just in case, and they never run them until empty, always with a battery monitor!

    Just my 2 cents!

the great thing about the KWA is it takes anything from 8.4-upwards in standard batteries even just put a large capcity battery in it as im almost sure the hand grip is larger than the jg and ca g36c ,

ive been studying the li-po developments for airsoft ,its a risky business if you dont know what your doing,

sounds like lot of added hassle and i would be pretty pissed off if me AEG went up in flames, then theres the fact that it could be around your neck at the time., I cant see the pro's outweighing the cons so I wouldnt chance it with such a volitle battery.,

i would (and intend to) give it a try with a battery monitor installed

They do have there advantages being able to fit a 2000m 9v+ battery into a space designed for a 8.4v 7cell mini is great, but you just have to do your research use common sense, invest in a good lipo charger and a balancer and add another massive load of common sense and your fine, for me the greatest 'danger; is that you discharge the battery to low in use and explodes in play.
