SkyHD Signal Problems

Im living in Drogheda and for the past 2-3 weeks by SkyHD box has gone haywire, set programmes are vanishing off the planner as are ones recorded, or coming up failed despite the fact they are set for days in advance. Some show they are recorded and give the programme length but wont play now matter what you do.

Most recently my channels have begun breaking up, first it was ITV2, then any of the C4 channels other than C4 itself i.e C4+1, both E4's, both More 4s or film four, its now started with RTE & Sky One HD and other channels I dont really watch and when I say breaking up I mean it looks like someone is on my roof kicking the dish regardless of the weather and now it has started not only skipping forward parts of programmes but when the picture breaks up loops back a few minutes to scenes I have just watched.

I have switched the cables at the back all around, the signal strength seems ok but the signal quality looks like 15-20%.

Anyone got any ideas as to what I can do?

Try aligning your dish, its been pretty windy recently, it might have gotten knocked off.

I was thinking it might be dish alignment but that wouldnt account for programmes vanishing off the sky planner or refusing to play, I may have to get an engineer out as I wouldnt be any way comfortable getting up on my roof trying to mess with a dish thats attached to the outside of the chimney but I loathe to give them €65 and will have to take a day off work as I work in Dublin.

The early Thomson boxes are apparently dropping like flies due to power supply failure. However, replacement PSUs are relatively cheap.

I think mine is a Thompson all right but I only got mine last January so a year seems pretty poor for it to jack it in. Its just doing my nut in, I have the whole sky package including the HD & multiroom (the reception in the bedroom breaks up more than the livingroom but I hardly use it) and for €98 a month I feel like Im being screwed over with the quality of service. I was even starting to investigate a **** thing but I believe NTL are going to switch to a new frequency in the near future bricking those machines so Im stuck with Sky as NTL/Chorus in Drogheda are meant to be appalling even compared to Sky

Any references as to where those PSU failures are being reported? I've had my HD box since day 1 and I'd be interested in being prepared should the worst happen.

Pace are due to launch their first Sky HD box next month. They are known to be the most reliable manufacturer of STB's.
