Rowing Machine or Exercise Bike?

    Hey folks,

am trying to trim up a bit around the ole beer gut area and thinking about buying either an excercise bike or rowing machine. I dont really wanna loose weight at all, just loose the beer gut. The idea is to do about half an hour a night on one of the above.

Which would be best for the results I'm looking for can anyone tell me or even the pro's and con's of either?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Whichever one you're willing to use more often!

I'd say the bike purely because it's probably cheaper and takes up less space then a decent rower.

Lifiting heavy weights is great for fat loss. Get a real bike too

I find the rower gives a great overall workout, I do 30 mins on the rower and also use a treadmill and my beer gut is going fast, that said I am off beer until the weight has gone, but the most important thing is which one you like doing.

Cheers for the feed back guys. So you reckon a rower wil give a better overal workout used half an hour a day as opposed to just a bike? Think it'll be a rower I'll get so.

Depends on my mood and what I'm using it for!, since I'm quite tall I find that when I use a rower for a prolonged time ie anything greater than 2-3mins I get bad pains in my thighs and shins. That said if your doing interval type rowing (usually 100m-800m sprints) it's fantastic.

If I'm looking to do recovery type workouts I'd go with cycling since it's a lot easier on the body.
