Lots of people love BF2, and hate 2142, or vice versa.

Personally BF2 has more playability.

BF2 is the original game.

2142 is a mod of BF2

Ask yourself first if you like futeristic games or not. But having played each I'd prefer BF2 as a new player. 2142 was largly aimed at existing BF2 players so it had to have lots of 'extra's to win over the 'old' crowd. BF2 is IMHO a more 'pure' game.

2142 has all the stuff of BF2 and big battle mechs and stuff. Lotza splodey!

I was pretty much a noob to the online BF universe when I bought 2142, it's pretty easy to get a hold of.

For me personally, I prefer BF2, for clan matches and general play.

I liked the unlocks and cutomization of 2142 but the setting was a bit off to me, BF2 "felt" better.

Bf2 is great.... never even looked at 2142 as bf2 just gives me what i want

Have you played the Project Reality mod for BF2?
It's a whole new game, and much better (IMO) than vanilla BF2.

I'd say Bf2 also ,though you cant beat a few Titan mode rounds in 2142

I don't know about BF2, but you can always try Can YOU run it? (which tells you the sys req, but I'm lazy )

BF2 runs smoother then 2142 no question. Personally i like both games just as much .

I played both demos, but bought BF2 in the end. Both are good games: 2142 has titan mode and BF2 has the attraction of modern warfare (which attracted me more to BF2). I have friends who ended up buying both games because they couldn't decide which was better.

I personally like both games but i lean more towards 2142

titan mode is great
I find the squad teamwork in 2142 to be much better on public servers (of course squads from the same clan are always going to work together better in either game) and you get rewarded for teamwork which only serves to encourage it.

I must point out though that I am crap in flying vehicles so the easiness of piloting in 2142 is a bonus for me!

BF2 easily, like already said it is more playble, you'll get more fun out of it, I have both and I don't even play 2142 anymore, BF2 is more varied, more "vast", more open and overall just a better game.

I'd be wary buying a game like that from the likes of ebay . But BF2 is the winner, 2142 is fun though vehicles are faster and the FAV has NOS, great for a quick gettaway and ofcourse running people over, cause you can't do it in RL.

One thing I was wondering.
Whats the story with the expansion packs and BF2.
How many are there? Are they worth buying? More maps, different servers..etc??;)

Never bought them myself.
Just make sure you have it all patched to the latest version so you can play on the servers... I think the map Wake ISland 2007 is included in one of the free patches.
I just play 3 or 4 maps constantly (don't go near the ones I don't like)! (some servers are setup just for single maps... others have map rotation). Just can't seem to get bored of it!

There's 3 of them:
Special forces (Get this one, you will like the zip line and grappling hook. Lots of good maps).

Armoured Fury (3 new maps, and a sports car is in there )

Euro Forces (Some good maps, but only a few servers hosting them).

They all cost about €10 from EA link.

BF2 is more realistic 2142 is futuristic. Take your choice :rolleyes:

You should have given the option to vote for both. I used to like BF2 more and then I liked 2142 more so I cant really say for sure. IM playing more BF2 these days cause I got all the ranks in 2142 and still have stuff to get in BF2.
