United vs. Spurs League or Cup?

United just played Spurs there, and play them again next weekend.
I think if push came to shove and I had to win one and lose one, I think I'd rather the 3 points in the league rather than progressing in the FA Cup. Was wondering how other people would think about that.

Which would you prefer? 23 votes

3 points without a doubt. The league is the most important thing for us to win, then the CL then the FA cup. Simple as that really.

Definitly the league. A defeat being level on points with Arsenal could be quite damaging towards the title challenge

league all the way, a tough game ahead next week, especially after a midweek game v pompy.

I would like utd to have drawn at the weekend and win in a replay, really tough choice at the weekend but I suppose I hope the spuds win with Ronaldo picking up an injury.

as a spurs fan, it would have to be 3 points over the FA cup.

If I was a Man U fan id agree, although as always Id hold the CL in higher regard than the PL, but apart from that.

These days the FA Cup is really just a chance for someone outside the Big 4 to have their glory. For managers of the big 4 its the lower part of winning the treble, just the extra you need to add on to the CL and PL win. Its not as if even Rafa would be for the sack if the pool were out of contention. Im sure someone managed to fob off the yanks with "ah nobody really cares about the FA cup, its all PL and Europe"

    Note the word "chance".

Really, when else do the likes of Millwall nearly do the impossible?

I cant be arsed looking it up, FA Cup isnt one that particularly arouses my interest.

FA Cup all the way. For us it'd finally mean a trophy AND a path to the UEFA Cup. In the league we'd probably only get the UEFA Cup.

fair enough but stats say 16 of the last 17 finals have been won by the so called top 4 teams.

A look back at runners up over a longer period would also suggest that smaller teams have always done well.

I thought Liverpool fans would be the only fans in Europe who'd rather win their domestic than win the Champions League. If LFC were in with a chance this year I'd focus on the 3 points but the way things are, FA cup is more important. I'd happily take 17th in the league if we could win the CL again though!

So Xavi, when you say us, are you talking as a Spurs fan or a United fan?:D
Just thought I would give you the chance to clarify.

 Well the poll gives an option for fans of other clubs so there's your answer

As an Arsenal fan id gladly sacrifice the FA cup win over the weekend for 3 points in tonights game. After all we beat them in the league cup only to draw in the league shortly after. Id have gladly lost the LC win for the extra two points

The Big 4 have enough strength in depth to get through the first few rounds easily enough most of the time and by the time the business end of the season comes along 1 or 2 of them will only have the FA cup to play for in terms of trophies and thus will use full strength squads later on which 9 times out of ten will beat there quarters/semis/final opposition. The fact the league cup is over before the big 4 are out of the running for the ''Big'' trophies means its always more intersting in terms of its winners. That and the fact its even less prestigious.
