Looking to buy a good digital camera

    Hi,

    I dont really have a clue about photography but am going on a trip around the world and want to buy a good camera. I'm going to New York in a few weeks and am thinking of getting a Canon G9 over there as they are alot cheaper, does anyone have any comments about this camera, or can anyone recommend a similar camera that is nearly as good as an SLR? or can anyone recommend an SLR thats cheap but good?

    Fuji bridge cameras tend to be good

    The G9 is a nice camera maybe a bit over priced but good none the less.

    Would go for a Fuji myself maybe the S9600 or the S8000 their very close to full SLR's and produce amazing color.
