That's in relation to UPC in the Czech Republic....

Nothing to do with Ireland. HBO doesn't operate in the UK/Irish market

HBO and AXN would be nice additions. Unlikely to happen.

What is this channel? It's appeared in Limerick recently but I've seen nothing but mobile phone subscription junk ads so far...

It looks like a pointless junk channel. Who actually watches these type of channels?.

I'd say they just gave us this channel to justify increasing their charges, Its a pity they wouldn't get rid of all the crap channels they're giving us and just give us a couple decent ones.

Contact them about it. Probably no good but better than nothing...

I wish poor basic ntl cable people like me were given a new channel :( (get rid of nick and put in cartoon network or add filmfour or something )
ps. Why do ntl ring all the time trying to get me to upgrade? its annoying

It is because the basic analogue is being turned off within the next few years, leaving only digital tv, broadband internet & VOIP through the UPC network. When this is done the capacity available for other services on the network is vastly increased.

It appears increasingly likely that this is going to happen sooner rather than later with their cut-price upgrade offers coming available.

It would be very unlikely that any channels will be added to the basic package, the opposite will probably be the case.

They're reluctant to offer the analog service to new customers already if at all. I was ordering a new triple play connection for my mother last week and enquired about analog as it's not mentioned on the website anymore. The sales guy hummed & hawed and said "we don't, erm, really do that anymore"

Hmm, its still mentioned on their website...

A point to note with Chorus/NTL is that in the vast majority of their cable systems anyone with a connection of any sort has the analogue TV service available to them. Cork is the major exception since its analogue service is encrypted and requires an STB.

MMDS is of course an entirely different kettle of fish, there is no analogue MMDS on NTL anymore, while on Chorus you need a different STB for analogue to digital. I presume UPC are installing digital on all new Chorus MMDS installs.
