February Sun Holidays?

I'm thinking of whisking the girlfriend and her 2 year old son off on a sun holiday somewhere at the end of February (16th/17th to the 23rd/24th).

I'm working on a pretty tight budget (under a grand or so) but I'd rather avoid the tackier resorts so I'll be hoping for a good last minute package! Any recomendations? I know the Canaries would be nice weather-wise around this time of year but not sure if there's any good non-highrise places there with nice golden beaches etc.

    Any recommendations?

I went to the Canaries at xmas with jet2.com (from Belfast), stayed at Koala apts, pretty basic but they were a lot cheaper than other travel agencies I looked at. You can book the Koala and lots more directly, on laterooms.com but it is only a little cheaper

    best of luck

Go to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt. I'm going in March. Check Falcon Holidays. You can get a hotel allocated on arrival, 4 stars, all inclusive for 749 each, going around that timeframe.
    Have a look.

The wife & I are just back from Fuerteventura, where the weather is always great, 23 to 25 at the moment. Fly Ryanair midweek for a good deal, Book the San Jorge in Caleta through hotelopia.ie, request a sea view. 6 euro a day extra, well worth it for a wow view. We went self catering and ate out, good resturaunts, good value. The best beaches are a twenty minute walk, behind the Sheraton hotel. If you're hiring a car, best value with no hidden extras, Autoreisin, pick up at the airport and drive 10 minutes to hotel. We hired a little Citroen for 100 euro a week including comp insurance. Caleta de Fuste is a quiet resort, mainly families & retired, nothing too exciting but good value for money & great winter weather
