Only other option is try formatting the drive or updating the system software whilst removing the viewing card and hope for the best...or goto a store like maplin and upgrade its drive for a larger capacity

Only other option I can think of for you to try is the following which has worked for me from time to time...

Press and hold the 'left' and 'right' navigation buttons on the front of the digibox whilst you reconnect the mains power. Continue holding the buttons in for about 20 seconds, and when the ring of light on the front comes on, press the 'select' button on the front of the digibox (between the left and right buttons you were holding). The Sky+ recording logo lights will spin backwards...this will wipe the drive..

    To do housekeeping

Press services 4-0-1 select ...I think its option 7 for housekeeping

and option 8 forto delete drive completely

Yep, probaly a HDD fault. Easy enough to replace yourself, but if you don't fancy send it off to these lads up in Eniskillen, www.digirepairs.co.uk

My Box got stuck in standby... I did the reset thing, then same kept happenning.... So I tried "Housekeeping" and it worked for a day or so.... Eventually I just bought a new drive.... Worth Google-ing the Model number of your Sky+ box though to see which drives are compatible. Although the boxes all look she same or similar, some are Grundig, Pace, Amstrad etc...

I got this Harddrive from dabs.ie for my Pace Sky+ Box pictured here... 4513489133.jpg

I got a new drive for mine from these people
    http://www.xtendedplay.co.uk/skyskyhd-drive-upgrades-ct-3_20.html
Very easy to fit with clear consise instructions and has not given any problems in the last 2.5 years. The kit comes with a torx screwdrive kit as well for getting the sky box open. You have to state your model when buying so you are sure you're getting the right drive. They also have a faq which will help you identify your model.
Also, the drives come preconfigured to run quietly and with error correction turned off etc. etc. so the drive works as efficiently as possible.

That's the same site I ordered my Samsung 250GB drive from.

I did pay a few quid over the odds for the Samsung drive (which was discontinued) but as the drive was considered very good, I thought it'd be worth the extra. No problems to date.

I notice the drives they sell now seem to be Seagate.

Maxtor Quickview drives are the ones that used to be used by Sky for v2 Pace boxes. Can still be bought from Dabs and other similar sites
