Post-grad training programmes

    Hello,

Im in my second year studying law in college. Around college there is always plenty of talks, brochures and info scattered about the place by different legal firms about paid internships/training programmes. However almost all of these big firms seem to specialise in banking, or commercial law, or similair fields.

Basically I've abosulety no interest in such fields. I'd love to get in to criminal or family law, infact almost anything that isn't a business based field! I've tried looking for advice from college but found them to be little use, and was just given more brochures for McCanns et al.

So how exactly would I go about getting in to some sort of criminal law firm, or any firm that doesn't do commercial stuff for that matter? I'm not from a legal family so have no real idea of what the big firms are apart from the ones who throw their glossy brochures all over college. Do firms like these even do training programmes for college-leavers, and do they pay for your FE1 studies like Frys, McCanns et al do?

Any help or info as to names etc would be much appreciated!
    Thanks
