    Hi,

I've been through all the stickies and read a load of stuff on here sos thanks for all the great advice so far.

I have a couple of questions though

Namely which of the following would be most effective for general weight loss:

    1. 3-4 sessions per week with 45 mins weights(all over body work) 40-45 mins Cardio (Threadmil, cross trainer, rowing machine)

    2. Alternate between Cardio one session and then weights the next.

    3. Do weights on upper body followed by cardio and then the next session do lower body work followed by cardio.

By weights I mean using resistance machines not the free weights.

Some info I am 31 , Male 6 feet tall weighing 85kg and had been training 6 weeks before pulling a calf muscle playing squash, now getting back into training again.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

Diet wise...Diet is ok though not great, very little junk food but still quite a lot of carbs....

Do 4 or more sessions per week and do some cardio e.g. 20-25mins after every weights session.

Just rotate the weights you do on each full body workout. Do free weights as much as possible and pair off the exercises e.g.

Leg press followed immediately with press ups - 3-4 sets for 12-15reps on each
Leg curls 10reps followed by chin ups (even just do negatives and build to 6 reps) for 3-4 sets
Machine shoulder press with biceps curls (dumbbells or barbell) 10-12reps for 3-4 sets

On the next day just pick other exercises for the same or different muscle groups then rotate back to the above session.

Just get stuck in and stick to the basics
