I give up on this show. It's going no where, it's one step forward and two steps back at this stage.

A bit like Lost I think. Dragged out to the last

I love TV and so I never want my favourite shows to end but I have to say it would've been better off if this show ended in season2...with Michael+Sara (and Linc!) sailing off into the sunset. But no, they have to be put into a jail supposedly full of the biggest and baddest dudes but when they don't like someone they throw a stupid little chicken foot at them. A lot of people liked that there was more action in season 2 than in the first (as in people wanted less footage outside the prison) but I thought it was brilliant with Linc and his ex (forgotton her name. dead now) working on the outside. It was all a big race to the finishline. Season 2 had the excellent Mahone, loads of action. A lot of characters gone but the show finale could've been brilliant.

Now they drag it out. As soon as Michael gets out of Sona he's put back in. As you say, one step forward two steps back. Gretschen isn't as threatening as she was, the company sounds ridiculous. Even the scene last week where Whistler was trying to convince Michael+Mahone who he was...it was like the writers trying to convince us to watch. It's boring and predictable now and it's such a shame cos it had such potential.

The only thing keeping me from stop watching is Wentworth Miller!

I know I would be the same. I'd say stop watching then - stop whining. But unlike Lost, this has nowhere good to go. Nothing to build on to salvage this show.

Am I taking it a bit too far? Yes because I take my Tv seriousl!

    Ok rant over!

I agree! But maybe Linc will take Sofia to Paris and Scofield will kill that Susan bitch and we'll have a happy ending! or a season 4 :/

I'm still enjoying the show. I think some people are over thinking this show. Just enjoy it.

isnt he doing that since season 2?

It's not as good as the the the first two seasons, but I still enjoy it. It would have to get a lot worse for me to stop watching it.

The cleverness that was in season one and two is not there this season. I'm talking about things like when Michael used the egg-beater to make a hole in the wall in season one or how the words "Bolshoi Booze" on his tattoo turned out to be GPS coordinates in season two.

It's going around in circles, and it's ridicolusly over the top with inconsistent character decisions

    but i still love it

I'm still enjoying it - I think season 4 will be him going after the company and clearing his name etc. Then season 5 will just be poor, and more then likely get cancelled.

baldy is and always was the company

The first series was all about tension building up to the escape, then it went wrong and he had to come up with an alternate plan. The second had the whole chase thing going.

But this is getting a bit like The Prisoner. Every couple of weeks he seems about to escape, but something goes wrong. Or they're about to get LJ back, but nope, have to try again. It's getting repetitive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

They probably will turn it into some sort of Michael vs evil company people but that's been done to death aswell.

It's just run it's course, with the first and 2nd series I used to make the time to watch it now I'm just not bothered anything can pull me away from it.

Ahhhh it is still my favourite. I think it's a disgrace that somebody compared it to lost, lost is ****. Whereas prison break, even though it has been dragged out a little still offers suprise and suspense. Unlike lost it doesn't have rediculous story lines that are very hard to follow. Im going to be tuned into sky tonight to watch the episode, can't wait. Was very dissapointed there last week when it wasn't on Rté.

^ You can't compare this sh1te to Lost. Lost wins hands down. I could see where someone was coming from if they said Prison Break Season 1/2 is better than Lost season 2 even though I would personally prefer Lost, because it was clever, intense good storyline, lots of action, great characters. Now it's very poor. I found the idea that he was put into a new prison totally ridiculous to begin with but I've given it a fair chance. I'll still watch it, as I say, cos of Wentworth Miller :P and also out of hope that it'll get half as good as it was in the first two seasons.

I don't believe something is 'dragged out' until it starts getting poor. I don't think Lost has gotton poor because it still has the ualities that made it a great show to begin with. Granted it's hard to follow if you haven't been watching but that's just another reason why it's so good - you have to keep watching.

Anyway, this isn't Lost v Prison Break

Yes I am aware of that. I was just making the point that lost is hard to follow even when I was watching it (haven't watched it in a while). Prison break is easier, you might be able to miss an episode, but you would be able to pick it up from the following week.

I do admit that season 1 and 2 were a lot better, but I think that it still has a good strong storyline to it and that it is worth watching. A lot of people would agree that lost has gotten ridiculous, with talking to friends and work mates about this I know this.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,026 ✭✭✭Killaqueen!!!

I get your point that it's hard to follow. I agree with you there, you have to be hooked, constantly concentrated on each episode to enjoy it and get the most out of it. I personally love this cos I like watching out for every little detail and tying things together!

Apart from that point though, I don't see how you can judge the show without having watched it all. I've seen every episode of Lost and every episode of Prison Break. Not as big a fan on Prison Break any more as you can see from my last post but I've given each show the same amount of time. If you did too I'm guessing you'd agree that Lost is a much better show.

As for 'getting ridiculous'. I don't see why people say this. It was 'ridicuous' from day one with polar bears, mysterious whispers, monster, the others...? You either love it or you don't to be honest.

Never got into PB when it started but I managed to get a hold of s01 and watched most of s02 on tv.

s01 fell down in the last few eps imo. Bugged me to no end. Still have to watch all s02.

s03e12 was fantastic. I was *this* close to shouting at the tv at times. Great viewing. It's still got life in it.

The last episode was just stupid. It's like a tv show about Murphy's law in action, it's just getting preposterous at this stage. Having a good laugh at it at this stage though it's quickly moving towards CSI: Miami territory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,727 ✭✭✭✭Sherifu

You could always stop watching. The majority of people are happy watching it. See the poll on the last episode. You're in the minority. ;)

Meh, watched up to this years hiatus. Was planning on picking it up again but this season and the end of the last has bored me so much that i couldnt stomach it anymore. IMO it should have ended at S2.

I lost the remote to me tele and can't tune it in, I only have rte1, rte 2 and tg4. I don't have much of a choice in what I watch. :(

Maybe you're better off. There is such a thing as too many channels I find. You tend to end up watching even more crap.
As for the episode being stupid, there were some parts of it that weren't too believable but I tend to ignore those bits. You could pick holes in the story all day if you wanted to. I love the suspense, visuals and music.

I'd be happy with the rest of the terrestrials BBC 1&2, ITV and especially Channel 4, that's the one I miss the most. Wouldn't be at all pushed about getting Sky. Used to have it years ago but it went down after a thunderstorm and I never really missed it. Doesn't seem worth the hassle or money to me.

The thing is about the likes of Prison break is it was one of those mold breaking shows to a certain extent but now they've just settled down into the usual TV rut. I also hate when the makers don't put the effort into making sure the storey isn't full of stupid inaccuracy's. Like last night when they used the getto blaster to fake gun shot's. You get the impression the "company" is supposed to be some fancy CIA type organisation, which means those bad guys would at least have done a weekend course in being a gun for hire and fired a gun before. Yet they couldn't tell the difference between real gun fire and taped gun fire. Not to mention the fact real gunfire would drown out even the loudest sound system. Silly stuff like that just ruins the experience for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,727 ✭✭✭✭Sherifu

Season 1 was excellent but a lot of good new shows have a uniqueness that starts to fade with each season; 24, Lost, Heroes, etc. The originality is wearing off by season 2. As for the taped gun shots, I really had no problem with that, I thought it was fine.

i hate LOST with a passion , its the most tedious show ever , one day soon i expect to see an entire eppisode with flashbacks of how the plane itself was built by BOEING
that will be a 2 parter

i'd settle for a feature length film finale to prison break

when prison break started, the story was set up to run a natural course of

in prison --> escape --> on the run --> get away with money/girl --> end

this cannot be made to last for three seasons or more unless you've got something other than the plot to keep the audience going (good acting, well developed characters, clever dialogue, humour). shows like the sopranos, oz, and to a lesser extent lost have this. prison break does not, it relies on a plot alone. a plot which has now lost the run of itself.
