It's hard for me to discuss just episode 5 as I watched 5 to 7 back to back and can't really differentiate the eps in my mind.
I must say I'm slightly disappointed with Michael Kenneth Williams' range as an actor.

    Razor Wire
I watched all of 4,5,6 and 7 in a row so I'm trying to remember which was which so I don't mention the other ones! Partly the reason I thought one thread for all would be good. Nevertheless, the first thing you have to say about this episode is Omar! Damn! lol That scene was brilliant, the shootout and then he just jumps through a window, off a 4th storey floor and is just gone. The faces on Michael,Snoop and Chris were classic.

I know the Wire is known for its realism and that is probably the best thing about it,and while obviously this scene was a bit out there it just adds to the lore of Omar. It is not impossible someone could survive that fall and disappear, but its not something you see everyday! Omar is a legend and now he will be gunning for marlo even more.

Good to see Cutty back, poor Dukie needs something! What he really needs is out of that life because it is not in him, just like it wasn't in Wallace and I fear Dukie could end up like Wallace.

So finally Herc does something good in this show! Giving Carver Marlo's phone number."Don't ask,Don't tell. Its like one of those guys sucking dick in the army" HA! :D

At first the serial killer story didn't grab me,but I am liking it now and I can see why they are doing it. 2 detectives for a serial killer! Anyone would be insanely p!ssed off with how things are run. Also loved Freamon ringing marlo's phone with the fake accent :)

Scott has to get found out, faking a serial killer call, making stories up. I believe that story is based on a real one involving the Baltimore Sun when Simon worked there. That scene with him and mcNulty and the rest of the paper high-ups was just brilliant. Mcnulty knowing he was just full of $hit and then taking advantage of it. Brilliant scene.

    Caly Davies...Ssshhhiieeeeeet. enough said! :D

Bubs doesn't have HIV,which gives me hope he might be the one character to get some kind of happy ending, because it doesn't look like it will happen with Mcnulty, his ex-wife telling him he is messing everything up and Beadie about to leave him,yet he doesn't seem to give a crap.

Why would you say that? You don't just say that without saying why! I think he is one of the better actors, which can be seen in 6 and 7 as well.

it seemed to me that for the first time marlo saw how tough omar really is and now he is actually worried about him coming back on him. Before he had only heard the rumors and saw him stick up the card game, normally snoop and chris can take on anyone handily but the were left speechless after it

Yeah Omar's escape was like something out of Buffy, a bit too unbelievable for me. I've got a bad feeling about Omar this season, I think taking down Stringer Bell was his big victory and somehow I don't think he's going to manage the same with Marlo. I think he may run out of patience waiting for Marlo to show and slip up which could be his undoing.

My guess is Marlo will be taken down by Lester & co.

Also - confirm that sound is sh**********t in 5, 6 & 7 all the way through but more noticeably in the music.

OK so I cracked a little and watched episode five...

Firstly, we got a most excellent "shhhiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttt" from Clay - wuhoo! I'm still wondering how it's going to go down. Even if they get him on their evidence, he'll end up with a cushy number and a nice retirement.

Herc doing something useful? Wonders will never cease. Seeing him with that smug lawyer last week made my blood boil. This is a step in the right direction but not enough. Speaking of that lawyer - any chance we'll see him in trouble? Bet not...

Main highlight was Omar's gun fight. I actually thought he might buy it as this is "The Wire" and it ignores many conventions. Thankfully he somehow escaped (did he get into the apartment below?!) I don't believe though he'll be the one to take out Marlo - Chris or Snoop, maybe both but not Marlo. Right now I suspect Marlo will be caught but he'll try and deal and give up the Greek.

BTW, I might've missed something but how are Lester and McNulty going to use information garnered from Marlo's cell phone given it's inadmissible?

Dunno about that, i think he was brilliant when he was pinned down behind the couch, out of bullets and he was looking genuinely scared, I thought it was going to be the end for him.

The start was good, didn't take the greeks long to forget about joe :D "Joe will be missed...on to business"

Great to have Clay back into his stride, trying to wheel and deal his way out of his trouble. He'll do everything in his power to get out of this mess. Sucks that the prosecutor won't go federal in an effort to further his own career. The scene with him and clarence was priceless

It's a change of pace, they look kinda hot with their clothes on. Hey Clarice, your serial killer called the Baltimore Sun.

Great to see Cutty back, hopefully he can help dukie get away from street life. Herc was always a good guy, he was just a dumbass. Hope Bubbs can get past his guilt, i'd hate to see him slip back into drugs.

The story with the serial killer has legs now with that fukctard reporter, McNulty played the meeting with the journos perfectly :D

They won't be able to use anything, but I think they will try to catch Marlo at a drugs meet. I'm not sure on this bit though.

Highlight was the gunfight, great ambush and it took some massive balls from omar to jump... I liked the big guy with omar that got shot, same guy that helped him in prison, sorry to see him go. I was wondering why Renaldo and his homies didnt come back with omar...maybe he wanted to do it on his own/not risk Renaldo's life.

I'm thinking that Slime bag lawyer deliberately left the phone number where Herc could see it.
He knew Herc would pass it on to his old colleagues.
Tracking Marlo, big trial, lawyer cleans up.

I thought the Greeks would be more pissed off at Prop Joe's death and that Marlo has mis-interpreted the belief that they would be ok with it - I guess not.
It was interesting to see just how low-key Prop Joe had been - Gus knew Fat Faced Rick but never heard of Joe even though Joe was the biggest player in the drugs racket in Baltimore - it seems Butchie wasn't the only one able to walk quiet as a puppy on cotton.

Gus's ear's pricked up when Alma mentioned a sexual angle to the homeless killings. Prior to that it was buried deep in the paper and now it makes the front page - Lester knows how to work his media coverage :D.

Who'd have thought that Chris would have a wife and kids out in the suburbs? It would seem that the only reason to introduce them is that Omar will find them in a later episode and use them to trap Chris.
Marlo is lethal enough already and now he teams up with Levy. Who better than Levy to make this killng machine even more efficient and deadly and it's a reminder of Levy's scene in season one where he advises Stringer and Avon to take care of any loose ends resulting in the killing of Wallace and the security guard who they turned.

Herc finally does something to earn a little smidgin of redemption in pulling Marlo's number and passing it on to the MCU.
Freamon taking the number and calling Marlo for takeout was very funny :D.

McNulty's home life is heading for the toilet and he doesn't even seem to care. At the minimum he is going to end up at the end of this season on his own - and probably job-less.

Landsman oogling clothed women for a change of pace - priceless. As was McNulty's grin when he realises Scott is making the whole thing up.

As for Omar "Batman" Little - nigga, puhleeeaaasssseee..............

I'm curious as to what will become of Michael and Dukie. It seems like they are building up to something, with them practising with the guns 'n all. I think if Marlo and his main crew are taken down in this season, Mike and Dukie might become the next gang leaders. They remind me of Avon and Stringer because they are close friends(look out for each other) and in the shooting scene where Dukie was crap, Michael told Dukie he had other talents like being smart - that's like Avon and Stringer(muscle and brains).
