Mods this is a mix of a PI/Long term illness so if you feel apprporiate to move please do.

Basically I'm hitting 30 and I have had IBS all my life, It didnt make school or college easy. Also trying to hold down a 9-5 job was sometimes tough. As most people with IBS agree with docors are mostly clueless. Its not physcholigical either as I really love my job/enjoyed college etc

I've narrowed my IBS down to carbonated drinks so I havn't had one in 2 years. But it still happens some days worse than others. I work in sandyford but live in swords so its a nightmare. I would get the bus into town and walk to the luas then once i get off the luas its a couple of mins walk. Thankfully I've never actually soiled myself but have come close to on many occasions. sometimes I've had to get off the bus/luas and find a toilet or sometimes a quiet spot.. :(

A friend of mine suggested taking immodium so I took one on a monday and I was fine for a week, i was regular like a normal person was. Anyway that was 2 months ago I had been taking 1 a week. But no I can feel the effects are not as consistent, I had to get off the bus twice this week to find a toilet. The only thing i can think of doing is upping my dosage but this is a path i really do not want to go down, "hi, i'm steve and i'm addicted to immodium" does not have a great ring to it..

    any ideas?

Go to a doctor and get a referral to a specialist. It doesn't sound as if you are treating the IBS in any professional manner.
