I just saw the film "sidekicks" and it made karate look so much fun that I went looking for classes. There are no karate classes in my area but there is a kung fu class. Does anyone know if kung fu is fun and good for self defence? Can anyone tell me anything mor about it from personal experience?

Kung Fu for one thing is fun to practice and may I say you are starting with the right attitude when getting into martial arts. Fun should be the main purpose of joining a martial art style, all the other benefits come as par for the course.

Kung Fu depending on the school, style, instructor and how it is practiced is good for self defense, but this can be said about any martial art style.

The best thing to do is try out a few of the clubs and give them a go.

    Where are you based?

    'Sidekicks' huh?
A young boy who can't help having fantasies about Chuck Norris!

Seriously though, that’s a classic film, is it out on DVD or something?

Yeah I got the dvd off ebay for £4, they've got loads. I'm living in Wales for the next 16 months, in the middle of nowhere, there aren't many classes available for anything here, I'm lucky I even found this kung fu class.
