    Hi guys,
I'm looking for a suitable entry level tri-bike.

I'm 5ft 4 with a small frame (so will obviously looking for a bike with similar).

    Two possible suggestions are a
    Lapierre S-Tech 200
    or
    Giant SCR 3 Womens Bike

The compare and contrast bits are (Giant first option, Lapierre second option)

    # Frame: ALUXX aluminium, Fluid Formed, Compact Road Design
    # Frame : ALU 7005 T4-T6, FLEX DESIGN
    #
    # Fork: T700 carbon composite, aluminium steerer
    # Fork : LP CARBON, PIVOT ALU
    #
    # Handlebars: GIANT A3 aluminium women's contoured
    # Handlebars : RITCHEY LOGIC 31.8
    #
    # Stem: Giant A3 aluminium ahead
    # Stem : RITCHEY LOGIC 4BOLTS, OS
    #
    # Seatpost: GIANT A5 aluminium
    # Seatpost : ALU, CHARIOT ALU 27.2X300
    #
    # Saddle: Selle Royal Viper women's specific
    # Saddle : SAN MARCO PONZA
    #
    # Shifters: Shimano Sora 24 speed STI
    # Shifters : SHIMANO STI 2200 3x8S
    #
    # Front mech: Shimano Sora
    # Front derailleur : SHIMANO 2200
    #
    # Rear mech: Shimano Tiagra
    # Rear derailleur : SHIMANO 2200 8S
    #
    # Brakes: Dual pivot long reach
    # Brakes: PROMAX ALU RC452
    #
    # Cassette: SRAM PG850 12-26
    # Cassette : SHIMANO HG50 8S 13/26
    #
    # Cranks: TruVativ Touro 3.2 30/39/50
    # Crankset : SHIMANO 2200 30X42X52
    #
    # Bottom Bracket: Cartridge
    # Bottom Bracket : SHIMANO OCTALINK BBES25 121MM
    #
    # Wheels: Hubs: Formula Rims: Alex DA22
    # Wheel : Hubs: SHIMANO 2200/RM40 - Rims : MACH1 CFX
    #
    # Tyres: Kenda 700x26mm
    # Tires : MICHELIN DYNAMIC 700X23

I'd be most grateful on people's opinion on which is the better bike as I'm completely clueless on it, but trying to catch up fast. If anyone has other suggestions for a suitable model then would be v. interested to read them.

    Regards

On a quick glance, the giant looks a better buy, mostly on the basis of components. A mix of Sora and Tiagra would be better than 2200, which is real bargain basement stuff.

I have the Giant scr 3 and its a great bike, would recommend getting a pair of gatorskins or similar though as the michelin standard tyres seem to get punctured a lot

a bit cheaper online aswell at wiggle

Thanks guys, that's really good feedback.

Actually found it on wiggle for £380 and free shipping.

Emmmmmm I do think you'r better off buying locally. If you get the fit or size wrong its going to be a waste of money.

Giant also available locally at cycle super store and wheelworx.

Don't think Wiggle ship bikes to our wee island! Check it out.

BTW, I'd say the Giant also.

Think they do. Some guy on here bought a Focus from them a while back.

Wiggle do deliver to Ireland and it's free once the order is over £50.

Checked out Bike Rack in Cabinteely as well. The Giant is exactly the same price (€749) in all of the three shops that I've contacted in Dublin.

Got the Giant in the end. Absolutely thrilled with it. Thanks to everyone for their help.

I have an scr 3 also. Great bike. Between the two it is the better bike. The la Pierre has a better steerer/stem but other than that the giant wins.

The one thing I'd back up in this thread is change the tyres. Those michilens are very easy to puncture.

Interested to know did you get from wiggle in the end? If so, how was it?
