Yeah i just got it installed a couple of days ago (again ;)). I asked sky about this and they told me I have the full package free for the first month and then I can downgrade it after that.

You can the upgrade or downgrade the different packages every month after that if you wish.

Since when? I thought all Sky Packages were yearly subscriptions?

Yes and no. Your subscription will last for 12 months but during that 12 month period you can ring them up and tell them you want to change your package and you are only billed for the package you then choose. When you change packages you have to stay on that package for at least one month afaik. It makes sense as they bill you monthly.

One of the Sky customer care team I was talking to during the week was telling me that during the summer (May - June) in particular they get a lot of requests from people to drop the sports and film packages and then the same customers will upgrade again to the sports package in August (start of football season) with a lot of others getting the movies package back on around October for the long dark autumn and winter nights.
