Broken screen - help

    Hi Guys,
    wondering if you could help.

My sister bought a Toshiba Satellite L30-10V a few months ago & yesterday accidentally broke the lcd screen. the laptop was open & it knocked off the table, she grabbed it to stop it smashing on the floor & caught the screen.
She can only make out the top left hand corner of it clearly, the rest is a blur of colour.

now i know it only cost about €550 but that was her budget stretched.

so realistically she cant afford to replace the entire laptop & i was wondering if you had any idea how much it would cost to have the screen repaired.

i've read a few threads where the op was told to buy a new one, she'd much rather get it repaired if possible.
and no, she didnt have it insured & her home insurance company wont cover it.

or if you any of you know someone who could do it on the cheap for her that would be even better!
    thanks for the help.
    Kiya

Its pretty easy, she can have the screen replaced for probably €300 ball park figure. At least €150 for the screen and the rest of the cost would be labour. Time for a realistic view of the laptop, is it worth spending that much on it, absolutely not. Could she live with it being view on an external monitor or does it have to be "mobile"?
You won't find a "Cheap" laptop screen replacement full stop.

Laptop screens are generally piss easy to replace. All you need is the correct screwdriver (Usually a small phillips), unscrew the cover around the screen, take old screen off, put new screen on by plugging the 2 cables provided into their slots, and away you go!

Here's one UK company that deal with screens, quick and reliable crowd that I've used before:

    http://www.rolta.co.uk/new-toshiba-satellite-l30-154-glossy-lcd-screen-1501-p.asp

Total cost was €200 for a screen I got (incl. delivery)

If the laptop is only a few months old you should ring BMS, Toshiba's repair company in Dublin, and check with them if they can help ya.
