In relation to the forum discussion thread posted earlier.

I think that a lot of the problems that crop up could be solved by redesigning the forum to include different sections relating to fitness.

If categories such as Newbies, Specific Diet, Sports Fitness Qs , Powerlifting, Weight Training, MMA etc or other such titles were introduced people could post
in their required section and not risk inflaming other members.

This would be of benefit in my opinion to first timers and would encourage people to stay on the forum rather than shy away from posting

    What do people think?

Personally Ive got a lot of great advice here but if newbies see that mods themselves are being personally attacked they are less likely to post here

    O_o Mods? Personally attacked? Never.

While I can see where you're coming from maradona what you're suggesting is essentially a whole new board which is outside the scope of boards.ie.

    Enter TeamTest :D

fair enough Gem. im not sure how boards.ie works but the fitness forum seems a little disorganised imo.

Boards.ie is comprised of over 1000 fora and sub-fora with about 200 of those being active. That means the fitness fora only take up about 1% of the overall "space" on boards.ie

To create the fora you're suggesting (powerlifting, n00bie Q's, bodybuilding etc) you would have to request all that new space from the Admins. There's constantly requests for new fora (see the Forums boards under the Sys drop-down menu) but you have to make a great case for them and very few are ever granted.

For now we make do with just "Fitness". If you want more specialised advise there's probably a more specialised forum elsewhere to suit your needs. As for being disorganised? Meh, haphazard perhaps, but in a very organised chaos kind of way :)

If we break it out into loads of different subjects then all conversation will stagnate in my opinion.

There are specilised sites out there....why join them? We're never gonna be doing ground breaking things here, just helping folk out and having a laugh.

im not complaining about the forum. i like it a lot and have got a lot of useful info here and also info about other sites that i didnt previously know anything about. i was just suggesting something that might help cut out the squabbling and make things easier for both the newbies and mods

no problem. when i joined up first i got into a few arguments here and i probably didnt help things by posting unnecessary threads. it would be a shame to see it end up like other forums on this site
