it's basic.. but it's not bad. First thing that jumped out at me was that there's a bit of jaggedness about a couple of the photos on the news page. It's only a small thing but it jumped out at me when I first looked at it.

Oh and on the contact page the copyright statement is out of alignment. Otherwise good though. Simple and uber-white, but decent. Just keep the colourful photos coming and it'll give it a bit of life..

I like the simplicity of the site, I think it's easy on the eyes and easy to navigate.

I think the linkbar at the top should be a smaller font.
I really like that SimpleViewer thing.

Do you think on the front page i should put a flashier thing displaying more photos or even some sort of flashy spinny slideshow?

ive tried tweaking the news page code and photos, are they still a bit jagged?

    When you say the copyright statement is out of alignment;

. has it moved up along side the photo of bressie

    . down to low

. or is it not centred

    and are you using IE?

    Thanks a mill

Agree with rymus on the alignment for the contact page, not sure how it displays for him, for me its only slightly out, but enough to distract me. (Camino/Safari on Mac).

Overall I like the simple navigation and layout. I think it is very stark, which, as rymus points out if you keep the colour coming will give life to the page, however I think if you introduced some more black to the page and have it more mono than white, it might be more striking. I would especially consider something a little more striking on the album pages, as SimpleViewer is widely used these days, and having it on a simple white page doesnt do the images justice IMHO. Its a fine line because you want the viewer to focus on the images, but you dont want the page to be too simple/basic either as this can detract from the impact.

Overall, good work, but I think with a few small changes it could be great work.

Nice mix of shots. Are you hoping to get work from this or is it just a pastime ?

Wow just want to say your work is amazing.
The design of the actual site was a little boring for my tastes but I like bold things anyways :)
    Your portraits are really great.

Not a decent haircut to be seen!

Technically superb but the subject matter doesn't do much for me - it's an age thing though...

    Nice cup of tea anyone?

Thanks guys for all the advice, did some tweaking of the css. Hopefully the alignment thing on the contact page is sorted now. Made the navbar text a wee bit smaller too. May reduce it again a little bit more.

I kept the site kinda plain and simple for two reasons

1/ i wanted to keep the emphasis on the photos

2/ my knowledge of html and css is fairly limited

think ill try jazz it up a little bit or even add a bit more black as 440hz said

I also toyed with the idea of switching the black with white (ctrl+alt+command+8 on mac), i thought a music photography website that wasn't all dark might be nice for a change tho.

I really love that shot too Oriel, lucky shot, one that just worked out. It's mad Ive tried real complicated shots for shoots and that just worked out and is one of my favs.

superb shots, i have to say.

nice simplistic design to the site as well, but there was one thing that bugged me, it's a little thing but once you notice it you can't get it out of your head.

the menu bar and logo up top moves in different directions ever so slightly when you change page.

Hmmm, that wrecked my head for ages, the movement as far as i can see is from the scroll bar appearing at the right hand side of the page for the longer pages. I could get round it by adding an extra space at the bottom of the shorter pages to make the scroll bar appear for every page. Theres probably a good reason for not doing that tho. Any suggestions 440hz?

some really great shots there and the simplicity of the site didn't distract from viewing them

Depends Eric on what kind of page you made, dynamic/static? What did you code the site in? If the page is dynamic, the scrollbar should, as you point out only appear when the length of the page exceeds the screen. Then you should position this title box using relative and not exact positioning, have a looks at ems. While I code websites mostly in a basic text editor, Dreamweaver is very good for positioning issues like this.
