    http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/features/loilegends.html
Stay tuned to RTÉ Sport for all your eircom League action and analysis on television, radio, online and Aertel.

Who is the greatest player in your club's history? Who is the best player to have ever graced a League of Ireland pitch? These are the questions we would like you to answer.

With the start of the new eircom League season fast approaching, we would like to find out who you think is the greatest player to play for your club, as well as the League of Ireland's greatest player of all time.

We would like fans to nominate the player they think has been their club's most significant ambassador, be it because of their ability to thrill the crowd, because of their strength in the tackle, or because of their unerring loyalty to the cause.

We are also requesting nominations on who is the greatest player ever to play in the league, and with Irish players of the calibre of Mick Leech, John Herrick, Brendan Bradley, Donie Leahy, Shay Gibbon, Tony Fagan, Jackie Jameson and Frank O'Neill, or English players like Bobby Charlton and Dixie Dean, the choices are plentiful and sure to be contentious.

Send all nominations to sportonline@rte.ie with clubs' and players' names in the subject line and feel free to send us a couple of lines on why you think your nominees deserve your support. We would also encourage you to send any photographs (in .jpg format) to enhance the feature, so get your entries in as soon as possible. Include your name, age and town/city you live in.

All contributions - including all nominations, text and photographs - shall be subject to the Terms and Conditions accessed via the attached link. By submitting a contribution, you agree to comply with the attached Terms and Conditions.

Entries close at 5pm on Thursday 28 February, 2008 and we will publish the results for each club as soon as possible thereafter.

As a Shels fan and picking players from my lifetime I'd have to go with Mick Neville and Stephen Geoghegan. Both absolute legends.

Outside of Shels, somebody like Liam Coyle is bound to be up there.

So who would you vote for?

I hope you're joking. I'd have Shero, Heary, McCarthy and plenty of others before them.

    Non Rovers legends

Kevin Hunt , Paul Osam , Tony Sheridan , Stephen Geoghan , Paddy McCourt

    Rovers legends

Wesley Charles , Steve Birks , Padraig Moran , Rafael Cretaro

With the exception of Kdjac, you lot are obviously all kids. And Gustavo is confused, none of those players ever played for Rovers, he must mean Sligo.

Too many to list at Rovers.

O'Neill, Fulham, Coad, Giles, Campbell, Buckley, Beglin, O'Brien, Eccles, Toal, O'Dowd, Cousins etc.

The list goes on and on, and I havent even scratched the suface of the old timers. Rovers have still provided more Irish internationalists than any other club side.

I think this vote is just going by a poll on the internet:confused: Therefore it's not going to be a legends of the LoI but rather the best player from the last 15-20 years.

Ah yeah I'm sure he was but I wouldn't remember that unfortunately. He was just so slow at Shels it was unreal. Myself and my dad used to cringe every time his name was read out before kick off.

how can anyone pick shero as a legend?

Will him and paul byrne fight it out over a pint for the honour?

Shero is hardly legendary status at least the others mentioned here played football for all of their careers and didnt feck off and become "pats" fans for a while.
