New 08 car tax question

    picked up new car today. Will I be charged for tax for Jan given that there is only a week left? Have searched threads but can't seem to find answer

    yeah happened to me last year ,car was registered on the 28 jan and had to pay for the full month of january

    Yes, you pay from the first day of the month of registration. Unless, of course, the car wasn't to be used on a public road until 01/02. If that were to be the case then you'd need to get the relevant declaration signed & stamped by the Gardai before posting it in to Motor Tax.

    Yes this happened to me too. The guards will sign the cover note for you no problem. but it means you have to drive around for a few days with no tax. So no problem there !
